    Another Glove Question

Is there a good reason to not use something like this: http://www.rei.com/product/47598989.htm?vcat=REI_SSHP_MENS_CLOTHING_TOC or this...

    Which Drygloves Rule?

Looking into the dryglove scene and am only finding snippets of conversation on which gloves people find preferable and why. So, what sort of experiences have you had with your gloves? Oh, and it seems to me that removable liners would be so much more useful. Am I misguided? And, if not...

Who or What Inspired You to Dive?

Have always loved the ocean and when I was about 16 went to the Bahamas and discovered snorkeling... which I did about every day. Late in the week I found that there was a resort course which I eagerly took and loved. I'd had a friend in high school that was certified and I was always amazed...

    IMAX Coral Reef Adventure...

That's what I'm saying. I don't give a crud about global warming one way or the other. The climate of the Earth changes constantly, from ice ages in Brazil to jungles in Greenland over the course of geologic time. I just don't understand how you could argue against spouting less polutants...

    IMAX Coral Reef Adventure...

Hate to get involved with political discussions, but I can't help it. Global warming or not, many of the people on this board have been diving for years. Decades even. Are reefs less or more healthy now than they were 10 years ago?

    Jealousy

I do not want to see a flame war or hear about who is using the right gear and who is using gear that will kill them (because it probably won't)... I'm just saying. I'm poking around online and looking at dive gear because I'm at work on a Saturday and I'd rather do that than work. And I...

    Disturbing advice given

I'm about the biggest tree hugging hippie around, but I sincerely doubt that if it meant my or my buddy's life I would even think twice about grabbing right onto some Elkhorn until I got back onto the boat (god willing). And even then, I assume my thought would be something like this, "Wow...

Sound off!! Whats your favorite BC?

Made the changeover to bp/w late last year and I'm not looking back. Was rolling the Ranger and, while I absolutely loved it, and found it immensely comfortable, it was always floating off of me in just the wrong ways. Without the crotch strap... harness... thing the shoulder straps always...

    Just on the brink

Wasn't even a 1/2 turn. Maybe a 1/4. I guess I'll see if it takes a 1/4 turn every time I'm in the water. My next dives are going to be in about a month in warm water... if it takes another 1/4 turn there (or, perhaps even, if I can't open it back up) and I'll get 'em to check it out.

    Long hose routing

Having known there were going to be points both ways, perhaps I should have made this a poll. I was just sort of interested in hearing the different arguments, not necessarily the "right" way and the "wrong" way. I have been routing it the way nova suggests just because it sort of seemed...

    Long hose routing

Behind (easier on the hose, takes up more slack) or in front (closer to the body/more streamlined [I guess], and easier to donate [I guess]) of the wing?

    Just on the brink

Got my regs overhauled a couple of months ago and the first time I dove them was in Key Largo about a month ago. They were tuned fantastically, seemed just on the brink of free-flow at every moment, but never did. Next time I dive them was yesterday at the 40 degree quarry. As soon as water...

    "Dust Caps" and rinsing rant

Question for you. My DIN caps have a little hole in them so I've been reluctant to do what you mention above. What up with that?

    Stop that clanging!

Was using lock-washers. The captain of the boat told a tale of how he's seen nylon insert wing nuts, which sounds awesome... but they don't seem like an off the rack item. Edited to add: Huh. Who'da thunk it?

    Stop that clanging!

Not really a story with a moral, something just kinda funny. The scene: Molassas Reef of Key Largo last weekend. About an hour dive at 20 feet. Very leisurely puttering around a reef frightening the fish on the second (and last) dive of the day. Somewhere around 45 minutes in my tanks...

    LDS: Point of Pain

My breaking point is, generally, in the hundreds. I far prefer buying in the shop for a bunch o' reasons: I like the advice. I like the help. I like supporting local business. I like the folks who own the shop, and like supporting their livelihood and, what's more, I like the folks who...
