They work fine. You just have to bump the zoom a little. This is common.

I'm not familiar with the ST mount, personally. Perhaps the folks at Reef could advise you on this one... I haven't seen a single post mentioning the ST mount in any thread on the S90 I've read. (and I think I've read them all)

There are plenty of threads on the topic, and I'm not in the mood for a debate when there have already been so many others preserved for posterity. If you're curious about other people's reason, the search function works quite well.
