    Mares Volo??

Depends on what kinda split you have, personally I'll take volo race/power over any other fins. But if you have tusa xpert-zoom, scubapro twin jets, atomic split fins, or apollo bio fins, there's realli not much point in spending an extra 180 to get a pair of them. Another thing I want to point...

How did you get into scuba?

I was interning at the Long Beach Aquarium in my high school junior year. One day I was standing in front of a large(very large) exhibit and accidently blurted out my thought of wanting to dive in there. My instructor was standing next to me........... got my ow 2 months later, got my advance a...

    Best Diving equipments

If you're gonna dive often(at least once every two week), then start from the top gears, that way you won't waste money on gears that you will eventually give up( i.e. rental style gears).

Which dive magazine should i pick up?

One thing about these magazines is that eventhough they provide lots of useful information, they tend to hide the shortcomings of the gears they review, so don't see their words as absolute truth, especially when it comes to gear.

    Wich fin from scubapro?

For Mares, volo power/race are definately expensive(160>), but you might wanna look up the original volos still in stock(they used to be 160 but are cheaper now). Quattros are realli realli hard fins to use. plana Avantis(or x3)(around $60) require some efforts but should be cheap, you sure you...

    new law in Cayman ?

An aqualung lpo costs less than $70, and you can get one a lot cheaper if second-handed. I'm sure a little bit of yellow on you won't destroy your color texture. No idea about the law, but seriously, if you don't have an alternative air source, any of the divers I know who's below the age of...

    The Future of Diving

I agree that there would be more and more tourist type divers anywhere due to the advancing tec and commercializing of the recreational part of the industry. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a bad thing since it would be easier for more people to understand the deal w/ diving (like getting to see...

    UK & smoking

Got back from the UK about a month ago, the country seemed to go way back on diving and is very proud of it. The only thing I cannot understand about the UK dive community is why so many people smoke..... isn't that a bit suicidal?

Mares vs Scubapro vs Sea Quest

The Glide 500 generally has higher lift capacity (not all sizes), but it has the least amount of D-rings available. Vector has the most D ring but less lift (12kg) compared to the other 2. I don't have that much info on cressi products on my hand right now. Also Mares doesn't have its own branch...

    Scubapro X650 Recall

There's a review on the x650/mk25 on the June issue of Sport Diver magazine, the author seemed to be very satisfied with the performance of x650, and he didn't mention anything about 2nd stage freezing.

    Apeks Egress

It's a LPO modified to fit with overbalanced regs like apeks. The hose is angled 120 degree to make it easier on your buddy. It doesn't have a so-called "right side up" so you can place it anyhow you want. It also has two blue "egress" printed on the top beside the word "apeks" which makes it...

    Hydro optic mask dizzyness

I have -4.25 contacts for both eyes, and I tried their hydro-optix masks during the scuba show. I have to admit everything look sharp and clear... a luxury you can't really find in other masks. But $200.........................

    Apeks' free flow control device

The thing creates a simple turbulence before the second stage, so if somehow the second stage fails(like freezes), it can seal off the air to prevent airloss. The device has 2 O-rings inside the plastic insert which provide a very good seal when the air is turned on

    Mares reg

W/ the prton metal.... I found certain awkwardness in its design..... I heard Mares tried to lighten the all-metal reg by punching a bunch of holes on the out cover which gives it the "ruch" look..... don't know if it's true or not

Regulator choice for new diver/warm water

If you know for sure that you'll be diving a lot, then it's better to start high, and if you are considering the titan lx, why not try out a micra too?

    Atomic Aquatics and Nitrox?

I used to think that my b2 cannot take nitrox as well, so I got nitrox certified w/ my old Titan (good reg, but it's mechanical breath.... not very good when u wanna dive deep and get narc); then I ended up calling atomic and asked them about my b2. Atomic told me that it's ok to run nitrox...

    Reasonable prices for Atomic Regulators??

I'm using a B2 right now and absolutely love it. A small problem I have is that the ball swivel that came w/ the reg doesn't really help much with the positioning..... the reg is still a little angled in my mouth. I don't have a weak jaw so my dives aren't really effected by this issue, but it's...
