    Careers in diving

Hey MD watsup, from what I've seen/heard, going into the commercial arena simply doesn't pay as well as the tourism part of the ballgame. But if you really wanna get serious with all the fancy gear, you might want to consider a master degree in ecology/marine biology since field research...

Wondering if I should be laughing

Hm... so supposedly this myth was startedwith people discovering a charred remain w/ a scuba unit on? How would that have happened? If not, how did people come up w/ it in the first place.

    panicked diver

Bolting, from the wisdom of many experienced instructors, is always bad. No matter how well the instructors/dms can control the situations should they occur. And from a first hand experience, if a student truly wants to bolt, it'll take 3 dms his size to hold the panicker down. If a student...

Have you dropped your weights lately?

Yea... remind me of this retired Seal (age 75+) who still dives with no BC(just harness). Regardless, a panic diver is no more likely to think about himself wearing a 20lb+ weight belt than that moron who always appear right behind you 12am at night realizing that he has his high beam on...

    Follow-up to competency poll

First I should mention that I managed to miss the poll while it was acive. Still, from what I've seen the definition of the poll is kinda vague, especially for the ascent part. Given a compter/gauge, I can definately make the sake 1ft/sec safety requirement, but I'm willing to bet big money that...

Faking Logbook Entries Fact or Fiction?

Yea, but mostly people I know who fake logs aren't faking the way you're describing. It's always "they've done the dive, but didn't log it.' So had to make up logs. I mean, let's say Bob has thousands of dive under his belt, but because either he doesn't log his dive or he doesn't bring dozens...

    Does Diving lower body temperature?

Cold more easily? it's kinda the opposite ith me... I kinda got used to being cold...so while everyone's slapping on double layers of jackets in 50 degree winter nights I just stand there with flip flops and t-shirt. (I do feel cold... but it just doesn't bother me anymore, and I won't shiver so...

How often do you dive(teen divers online)

I think it's just the way things are as far as people fading away... a scuba club is just like any other hobby relate groups. People get intersted, but they don't necessarily get committed. Just look at them as an extra source of membership fee. (they don't ue anything :D) Also there are people...

    Aquarium Diver?????

Yes, let's invent a $50 dollar course for everything there is about diving, including how to put on a 6 mil/ hood vest course and a how to breathe eficiently underwater..... ok j/k :D no, but the UC as well as most aquariums on the Cali coast do adopt a unified system... (ehh... forgot the...

    Comfo-Bite

I think the back ones are also a bit softer... making replacing and zip tying easier. Still, our local aqualung lds doesn't seem to keep the clear ones, and I suppose the reasons are mentioned above. (Ah... if only I didn't toss that entire seacure into the not, boiling water...)

Anyone Play Pranks on Fishing Lines?

Seriously, if a fishing boat has not respect for divers, chances are no one onboard is a diver, which means that none of them can dive... So agitating divers is a really really bad idea consider none of them can undo whatever damage divers could have done.

    First experience with splits.

Well, as far as splits go you should really try Scubapro twin jets and apollo bio, they'll definately give you a more complete view on the characters (and price! :D) of split fins.
