Craigslist: "I NEED A SCUBA DIVER (NORTH JERSEY)"

The shotgun was loaded, right? So. . . the gunpowder is now wet. . . At most $200? Naugh, I'll just stay away.

How to keep water out of your nose?

The first responder had a good point that I think is worth emphasizing: tuck your chin to your chest. Assuming you are kneeling in the swimming pool while you are practicing this skill, tilt your head down. By doing so, the water has to climb up your nose. If you are facing forward, or worse...

divemasters and instructors course..where, when, how much?!

Kooysty, That sounds great. Ignore any flames I will get in this reply. The two of you wanting to do this is great. My wife and I became divemasters so we could be better divers. Some information you will want to know: It takes 60 dives to be a divemaster and 100 dives to be an instructor...

Craigslist: "I NEED A SCUBA DIVER (NORTH JERSEY)"

It's not as impressive as a gun or such. It's probably something as simple as a set of keys. What he doesn't realize is keys are not made of iron and will not rust. Personally, I think we should all "try" to find it. Then with $100 each, we can all go out to dinner and celebrate.

    UW Photography and air consumption

You are also probably more aware of your buoyancy. I suspect you are also using your arms more. Perhaps you are trying hard to get the great photo. All of these things either work more muscles or increases your stress. Your air consumption will increase as you work harder or stress more.

    Passport Info/Name Change

I would wait. The passport process can take a few weeks and has been known to take much longer. Why risk it not being processed in time. Moreover, think of the headache you will get from trying to tell each TSA person you deal with that you have a second document they have to look at.

    Ultralight (ULCS) arms, handles, clamps

I have a set of four 5 inch UltraLight Control arms (standard double ball) that I am willing to sell. They work great and are in fantastic condition. I upgraded to the 8 inch arms. PM me if you are interested.

    Just got my G10

I shoot RAW + jpeg. As I see it, out of every hundred pictures I take, 30 of them are complete trash and another 30 are simply for fish identification. Of the remaining 40, half of them are worth keeping for the memories and don't need anything more than the jpegs. It's the remaining 15-20...

Ritz vs. Westin vs. something else

I suppose I should add that Ocean Frontiers is in the southeast corner of the island. It is quite a drive out there. The drive is made more interesting for American drivers as the Caymans is a left side road (opposite of the US). They offer a place to stay next door. The east side and...

Ritz vs. Westin vs. something else

Trip Advisor ranks Ritz as number 2. The best dive operation is on the other side of the island. Ocean Frontiers. My only reason to not recommend them is they will spoil you for any other Caribbean diving. Take a deep dive specialty beforehand or right off. Great dive sites: Big Dipper...

    Does instructor's age matter?

My preference would be for private instruction from an smart, caring, older instructor (sufficient worldly time) who is a course director (very experienced) and still loves to dive for fun. That person would also have to know enough about my personality type to understand how to best teach me...

    Instructor to student ratio

It depends on the instructor's ability to handle a class based on the environment. Yes, the various organizations have a limit. That limit is modified by the number/type of assistance the instructor has. What is not taken into consideration is the quality of the instructor or the conditions...

Moving Dive Log Data to another computer

Interesting... It should work. The .dlg file is in reality just an access database file with a change in the file extension. Here's what I would do: Check the version number of the program on your old PC. Make sure it is the latest and greatest off the website. Then open the program and...

    Backup lights

I am an avid fan of AElight's LED dive light. The stats on it are: Diameter: 1.18 in. Length: 6.3 in. Weight: 3.53 oz. Beam divergence: 12 degrees Kelvin Color temperature: 5500 Lumen output: *270 lumens for 1-2 hrs, 180, lumens @ 3-5 hrs., then slowly decreasing with battery output...

    Good dive operators?

Dear Original Poster... To answer your question, I can only offer to you my experiences with diving in Cozumel. We stayed at the Palace Resort there and dove with Aqua Safari. On the up side, they have a boat that leaves from the pier at the resort and have lockers at their shop located...

Diet Soda, bad for you ?

It's okay to dive with split fins now. There's a new line on the release of liability form that says you understand the risks associated with using split fins. ;)
