    HELP: EOS 30D vs E-PM1???

Well, I started out with a compact(Lumix), and recently changed to the PM1. So did my wife, and another buddy of mine. A Micro 4/3ds are less bulkier than a DSLR, and better than most compacts, and gives you a choice of lenses as you develop your photo interest. It really comes down to how much...

    Dive Op Recommendations for Phuket

I will be diving with Phuket Scuba Club in december/january.... for the fourth year in a row....:D. One of the reasons is I can dive every day I want to. on the beach or from longtail, or book a trip anywhere else...Similians, Phi-Phi, etc. They are located in Kata and Karon.

    How old is "too old"?

Started diving in 2010, and turned 59 this year....just looking forward to retiring, so I can dive more! The last dive center i visited had 110 steps down to the beach/office, and I did manage to carry my gear up the steps by myself :D. Oh I used a few minuted to get my breath back, but I...

GoPro Hero 3 Black vs Canon t2i

Any reason for not buying the Olympus Pm-1 deal for $500,- ? Mirrorless systemcamera with housing? Far better quality than Gopro( I have both..), and cheaper than a DSLR... Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk

Focusing with the 60mm Macro lens on PM-1

I'm not sure, (I may have changed the setting after the dive), but I think I tried with the 0,4m-infinity setting. Thought that would be a setting that would allow for both fish portraits & some macro.... If I had used the 0,19-0,4m that would minimize hunting, but restrict the useability?

Focusing with the 60mm Macro lens on PM-1

Thanks for a bunch of good advice! Seems I must find a way to attach a focus light. Already have a LightForMe backup xml I can use for that. Also, I forgot the aperture, thought I would start with shutter mode, just to learn the camera before going manual....(not very wise when using strobe :-)...

Focusing with the 60mm Macro lens on PM-1

Eventually got in the water with this lens. I had problems focusing, the lens hunted very much, so I had to re-press the shutter to re-focus all the time. On dry land this lens is marvelous! I guess some have already experienced the lens hunting to focus, so do anybody have the easy solution...

duties or VAT on camera shipped from USA to France ?

I have ordered both cameras, housings, wings etc. from the U.S. to Norway(which is not EU). Our local 25% VAT is added on all orders/amounts above aprx.USD 33,- (not including shipping costs). If above USD 33,- an additional 35-40,- USD are charged for customs/papers.... If I order equipment from...

    E-PL5 vs SeaLife DC1400

First time underwater with the PM1. Shot with the 14.42mm and a Inon S2000. I think the $500,- offer for the camera+Olympus hosing can't be beaten, and it may take a while before a similiar offer for the PL-5 comes around... Going from compact to this camera is like night & day. So cheap that I...

    BP/W pocket quandary for women

Well, my first buy was a Black D BCD, and with a drysuit(Fusion), and integrated weights, it was extremely restricting moving in, especially on the shore pre- and post dive. Could not carry the rig with tanks to the car, up a steep, but small hill...after ditching the weights. So we had to...

    My close call

I would'nt worry to much... As you get more dives behind you, the more confident you get. Nobody likes getting their masked ripped off, and most of us don't like seawater in the eyes. But, it does help to be prepared, and maybe do a refresher on emptying you mask, take it off/on, buddy...

    Reliable Backup-Light

I have the Light 4 me backup XML, and the DRIS shorty. Haven't tried the DRIS in the water yet, but it seems to give warmer light, and the beem a bit less tight. Both are easy to clip to a D-ring. The LFM can be too bright sometimes, on nightdives it makes other lights look like candles...unless...

What was it like buying your first dry suit?

The thread was started a while ago, but: First suit ever was a 7+5mm wet.....so I started looking for drysuits for both my wife & me. I didn't want to do the same error buying again(only got regs left from the first kit). Buying double of everything can be expensive, but I read a lot about the...

    What camera do you use?

I just sold my Lumix TZ-10(cost me aprx. USD 1000,-with housing) my wifes Intova IC-14(USD 400,-). We have been using these compacts for 3-4 years. Difficult to get good pictures with the Intova, but possible if you can get the WB right. The Lumix was much better, have a lot of good pics, even...

    Olympus lens cap storing underwater?

Well, I don't use a BCD, so, no pockets...and storing it under the tray is no option for my wife's kit, no tray, just housing.. :-) Guess I have to do some brainstorming ..... Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk 2

    Olympus lens cap storing underwater?

Haven't shot underwater yet with my PM-1, but I'm curious if the lens hood will be floating around and be annoying? Or, has anybody found a convinient way to store it? Or, should I just modify it, and use it as an adapter for diopters...... Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk 2

    Experience with Lumix DMC-ZS30 (TZ40)?

I've used the TZ-10 for some years, as is in original DMC housing, and was looking for a new rig,one of the reasons was that my wife was not satisfied with her Intova, and that I also wanted to take a step further, getting better quality shots. Stumbled over the first PL-1 offer, but luckily...
