Sorry for the hijack, but this thread must set a SB record. After a six year hibernation, the original poster was still around for a rebuttal (and replied to on the same day). DiverKim, if you're ever up for a dive in the Parksville/Nanoose area let me know!
As a 'worst-case scenario' (considering distances involved), Superior Diving Repair in the U.S. can repair/modify just about anything. They worked some impressive magic on my suit...
Updating the firmware is likely possible, but as mentioned you'd probably have to return it to Suunto. On a slightly different note, I find 'SuuntoEraser' to be a handy program, especially if you purchased used unit that had a lot of stored dives.
Somewhere north of Quadra island I had one 'drift' dive that almost felt like a free-fall. Within the area currents can be 20+ knots, so proper dive planning is as important as making sure your tank valve is open!
Interesting this topic should 'pop' up as I was talking about aspartame with a patient this week. His concern with it was that it 'turns into formaldehyde', and his source was the infamous internet. Having spent ten years in medical research (MSc/PhD) I tend to favour established journals over...
Two nights ago while watching the sun set into the mountains I noticed a pod of porpoises swimming by perhaps a hundred meters off shore (one of the joys of oceanfront living). In pursuit were two large yachts and a much smaller boat. The boats eventually caught up and I swear that the...
Good thing you're in Arizona then. The octopi around here don't seem to be numerous as they once were (at least at the popular dive sites).
EDIT: I just found an ad like the one mentioned for the Nanaimo region...
Hi Michael,
You shouldn't have a problem finding a buddy (for either shore or boat diving) on Sunday--there is no shortage of divers in Victoria. If you don't mind an hour drive or so (depends on traffic and where in Victoria you're staying) I could take you out for a couple of shore dives...
I can't speak for the Venture wing, but if it's like any other single tank wing then you can either route the cam straps through the wing and around the backplate, or you can sandwich the wing between the backplate and a single tank adapter (usually with a bolt/wingnut). The single tank...
Wow...if that was my first experience in scuba I'm not sure I'd be diving today. Generally when I am diving with somebody who has their backup regulator (octo) clipped or otherwise stuffed somewhere I always ask for a demonstration of its deployment before I dive. I follow up with the warning...
Depending on when you're around (and where you are staying) shore diving should be possible. I have a few spare HP100 singles (din/yoke) and could take you to a few good local spots such as Madrona point. The bottom temperature earlier in the week was about 12 Suunto degrees Celcius. A 7mm...
Nice photos! I've had many great dives in Tobermory, and in particular when the Dawnlight was still operating. My last dive on the Arabia was at 6:30AM one stormy day. I actually felt like I was an extra for the 'Perfect Storm'. London too was home, but with my Dad living in Wiarton my wife...
Yesterday at the main wall of Madrona point, visibility was 75+...it was a great dive! Closer to shore it wasn't as good--probably in the 20-30ft range but still great compared to dives there a few days prior.
Many offices have models and other demonstration aids that can help a patient better understand a procedure. And yes...a treatment planning room (aka a 'showroom') is a part of a modern dental office. It really doesn't sound like you have much experience with modern dentistry and I absolutely...
No 'socialized' dentistry here...thank you very much! Anyway if you're ever planning on visiting BC for diving, just make sure it's Vancouver ISLAND and not the city of Vancouver that you choose as your destination. Maybe I'll see you later in the year for a reline:D
Let me know how things turn out, and if you don't mind, what your total bill comes to. I have many patients who vacation to Mexico and I don't particularly enjoy removable cases. It would be nice having another option when it comes to referrals. I suspect that you pay quite a bit more for...
Honestly, I'd be surprised if you actually save any money by going this route. If you were seeking a bridge, implants, or other expensive fixed prosthodontics (and you were certain that the dentist you were seeing used a good dental lab)--why not. As I had mentioned in a previous message, you...
