If you purchase a HP steel tank (XS scuba for example), they generally come with a DIN valve that has a yoke insert so you can use either type of first stage. If your first stage is DIN you can buy an adapter for less than $60 that allows use of yoke valves (ie aluminum 80 rentals).
You had me scratching my head for a second until I realized that you're talking about a Mark V helmet. I want one too! Anyway I wasn't aware that there were any dive shops in Port Alberni. Curt Smecher was the reason why I moved out to B.C., and he ended up taking a position on the mainland...
The program that I was referring to did indeed work with one of my Suunto computers, just not my Vytec 2. The dive history/etc from the previous owner was wiped. I noticed that there appears to be a slightly more recent version (although still old) and I'll try it out tonight.
A while back there was a program that essentially reset the device, but it didn't work for my model. Do a google search and you may find the link. Apparently it carries a risk of turning your computer into a wrist weight, so keep that in mind.
It was the 'shimmying' that killed my shoulders. I'd usually get stuck on my drysuit valve if anyone was watching. Anyway I have no regrets with this purchase!
Their prominent features were two dip tubes (so essentially two independent valves) and DIN with yoke inserts. If any other valve has these features I'm game.
I was reluctant to shell out more $$$ for yet another backplate (I already have 3 stainless steel and 2 aluminum) but lately I've been having problems with my shoulder and would often struggle to get in/out of my backplate. Technically it was a small issue, but they all add up especially when...
There are quite a few nice spots around here. Right now there are a swarm of harbour seals parked not 50' from my living room but it looks like the recent storm has really affected the visibility. I'm always up for a night dive, and have Sundays/Mondays/most Tuesdays off.
I came across a link for the following battery (same one that my Salvo 21W uses):
Customize Li-Ion 18650 Battery: 11.1V 10.4Ah (115Wh) Li-Ion Battery Pack for HID Diving light
I remember on a charter in Tobermory I noticed a diver with -two- weight belts. After the second dive I broke down and asked him what was up with that. Apparently he had a few incidences in which he lost his weltbelt, so the second one was for redundancy. He was a big guy and obviously needed...
I have quite a few patients who live on some of 'Gulf' islands between Vancouver island and the mainland. One of them managed to dislodge a temporary crown (on a molar), and on my advice used a denture adhesive to put it back on. I had to section that temporary crown to get it off (under local...
I can't see any issue that the temporary crown would cause. It could be somewhat more sensitive to air/cold however. Depending on the tooth, and the amount of retention provided, you may need to be careful not to dislodge it while diving. Antibiotics would have ZERO consideration here and in...
WOW...that's very impressive. That puts a whole new perspectice on your gallery. Feel free to come out and document the reef off my place (Seadog, just a few homes down from Cottam point)...
