    Wet suit needed?

I got stung by Portuguese Man-o-War in Fiji. Darn thing nearly killed me. I had a reaction to the sting which caused some Muscle paralysis. Now (just like boulderjohn) I use a full suit every time for ocean dives, no matter how hot the water is. Most painful lesson I've ever learned. A 3/2...

    Underwater Hand Signals

I like the scuba hand signals and all, but American Sign Language is far better. Granted more diffecult to learn, but my wife and I are fluent and this makes for a great conversation underwater. We can communicate exactly what we want to with no confusion.....unless the vis is horrible. If you...

    Mask de-fogger

Come to mention it, when I went diving in Hawaii the DM on the boat had a spray bottle of J&J 50/50 mixed with water. It was the best stuff. I sell the 500psi on our website.... perhaps I should put some baby shampoo there for sale? J/K But I do like how handy the 500psi bottle is to keep in the...

    Considering entering the scuba world!

The Scuba world is wonderful.... you will love it. However be cautious of a training facility that says you can go for certified to instructor right away. Not going to happen. It takes time and plenty of experiance to teach. I'm not an instructor, but from all the instructors I've met..... they...

    Hi from Lake Mead, Nv

Lake Mead Tony! Welcome to the Scuba Board. I go down frequently to Vegas (not to gamble) but for business and to see family. I would love to contact you the next time we are there. How does Lake Mead diving compare to Lake Powell? Went to Lake Powell last year and it was terrible. What would...

What do you think about wetsuit sold at Sams Club?

Long time surfer here. I've dealt with just about every wetsuit made for surfing, and a few now for diving. The zipper in back for surfing is to avoid 2 things.... 1 Scratching the board (already mentioned) and 2 it would be painful the lay down on the board with a zipper pressed against your...

    Air Hog Award

I agree with MarcG. I still consider myself new to diving and I've seen improvement over the last few dives. You just need to experiance different situations, night dives, low vis situations, etc. More experiance = more comfort. More comfort = less air consumption. Have fun.

    Catalina U/W park dive report.

Apparently it is. I started this thread and wow.... what a detour. But I am learning, and have enjoyed the lively debate. I think I'll stay away from Nitrox for a while.... still need more experiance. But now I know what thread to look up for when I'm ready :)
