    Does it Exist??

I've seen it plenty of times. You need to broaden your search to surf wetsuits... if you haven't already. I've seen lots of guys in the water with short sleeves full suits.

    Looking for the right glove

I like the Bare glove in the 3mm thickness. it is perfect for the water temps you are talking about. I used them at Catalina in 55 degree water and didn't worry about getting cold at all. I've tried the 5mm version and I didn't feel like I had enough dexterity or control of my fingers, so the...

    Swim Formation - Buddy System

I completely agree with the side by side thing. My wife and I tried the follow the leader technique at Catalina (those kelp forests are quite thick) and we nearly lost each other. I don't like to hold hands though cause it just screws things up for me, but by being side by side we were more able...

    underwater boat locator

Jay Diver, That thing looks interesting, I too would like to hear more about how good it works. Especially if your throwing down $300+ from something a $40 compass can do.

    Hi

Welcome and good luck with all the purchases, it can be pretty crazy... but in the long run, well worth it.

Finally able to return to the water

Welcome to the board, I second the re-training comment. Your saftey is always worth the money it takes to do the course. Have fun!

    Howdy

Howdy back. I am giggling over here from your "I didn't mind the super-thick wet suit too much; in fact, I was plenty warm on my 4 class dives in the sound, but good lord, it took me about 30 minutes to get out of the damn thing!" comment. You should take a look at this review for the Akona 7mm...

Children & Scuba when to start?

GypsyDoc, Wonderful post.... you inspire those of us that are parents to include our children in things we are passionate about. Great picture too. Sounds like you have a great family tradition going. You must be proud of your boys. Thanks for sharing

Night Dive for Newly Certified OW Diver?

I did my first night dive early in my diving too, and let me tell you..... you want a DM with you for SURE! Nothing can be more frightening than loosing your way underwater, that possibility only increases at night. In fact, on that first night dive, we finished our dive back at the boat and I...

Tips on Buying Myself a wetsuit

I don't think you need a custome suit, check out this size chart from XS Scuba http://www.xsscuba.com/size_chart_mens.html. This has the most extensive sizes I've seen for wetsuits.

Children & Scuba when to start?

Awesome Pics Riguerin, Thanks for sharing. My 6 year old is showing some real interest. We have a pool at "Papa's" house and occasionally we suit up for fun and he always likes to check it out. He will breath for like 30 seconds on the octo and then be done, but he is really interested, I'll...

Children & Scuba when to start?

I know the official age is 14 (according to PADI) but, come on, kids naturally like to do the same things as their parents. So I'd like to know experiances you have had teaching basic scuba to youngsters. What are some reasons for and against teaching scuba to kids younger than 14?

    Women's travel BC

My wife loves her new Oceanic Isla BC. It packs quite well and is a full featured BC. She can use it in tropical water (not much weight needed) or in colder areas. It has back weight pockets. She likes that the shoulder harness can be anchored down on the jacket in different locations. She was...

Rear Inflation - Face Down in Water

Tom, for that reason I like the Oceanic Outrigger BC. http://www.onestopscuba.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26_32&products_id=53. It's a bit more pricey than others out there but it is really comfortable and easy to use. Just my 2 cents. :)

    Quick and Easy Wetsuit Question

Pwierz, It is 14mm over the core as others have said.... Just a quick FYI if you have never worn one before, it takes some getting used to for bouancy control. I had to add 26lbs for me and it was challenging to get down the 1st 15 feet. Whereas a normal 7mm full suit wouldn't be as...
