Diving Computers: Air integrated vs non-air integrated

Fishing for opinions here: I am currently diving with the Aeris Atmos 2 wrist computer. I originally bought it because it was the cheapest option for a dive computer, the only bummer I thought back then is that it doesn't tell you how much air you have remaining.:shakehead Come to find out...

Diver Scares Golfer... News at 11

I suppose you could, however that might ruin the relationship we have with the head pro :) It would be funny though.

Diver Scares Golfer... News at 11

Still Laughing over here! I would've loved to see that..... however since I surf as well, I can feel some sympathy for those floating on the surface :) Awesome story, thanks

Diver Scares Golfer... News at 11

Just another funny story from a recent golf ball collecting day... enjoy. I was at a really nice golf course in St. Geroge Utah, the approach shot for the golfer required them to hit the green or hit the water, since this was mostly an island green... the back portion of the green dropped off...

How do you wear a hooded vest

I've never heard of anyone wearing the hooded vest on the outside. I personally think you will get more core warmth wearing it under. It would be an interesting test to see which is truely more effective, but my hypothesis is that under is better.

    Dry Throat

I found a curious product made by Apollo Dive gear. It's basically a humidifier. Since we breath very dry air, the dry mouth/throat side effect always happens. This device is supposed to add humidity to each breath..... check it out on their site...

    Mask removal??

Clearing your mask of water? is this what you mean? If so, you exhale through your nose. This is done while lifting the pressure off the bottom seal of the mask, exhaling while tilting your head up slowly. This should clear the mask of any water, but if it doesn't, you just repeat.

Apollo Bio-Filter, no more dry mouth?

Has anyone had experiance with this new "humidifier" for your reg. http://www.apollosportsusa.com/Products/Regulators/Biofilter.htm. Apparently the air from the tank has like .01% humidity, thus causing the dry mouth and in some cases dehydration which leads to post diving headaches. I've had...

    Wetsuit numbers

I'd say you would be smart to get 2 suits. I always suggest getting a 3/2 for tropical or warmer waters, and a 7mm suit for the colder stuff. Then add a hooded vest to either of these suits you will find this to help out a ton. That would be the perfect setup.

Wetsuit advice needed for a custom wetsuit.

I would check out the Akona suit. They are cut for a comfortable fit, and their size chart is accurate. I just got the 7mm version but I hear their 3mm version is just as nice, and I love the 7mm, very comfortable and extremely flexible for a 7mm suit. I can only imagine the 3mm is awesome.

    Funny Hair Raising story

Wow, thanks for sharing that. I think I'll be a bit more freaked out when I go collecting again.

    Funny Hair Raising story

Funny you should mention Loch Ness monster. One of the Ponds we were in had an island green, and I scared a guy half to death after I cleared my Reg of water. I'm sure he doesn't know to this day what he saw! I could've been nice and waved but I wanted him to keep wondering!

    Funny Hair Raising story

Reason for Dive: Our company dive club decided to go golf ball collecting in a few water hazards at a nice golf course last weekend. We thought we'd give it a try since we've never done it before. I was a bit concerned about vis and the quality of diving which as it turns out is horrible. But...

    Deaf/HoH divers and ASL signers

One of my best friends is deaf. He recently had a cochlear implant which has helped him over the years develop his speech recognition. I've been trying to get him certified for a while, I'm not sure I ever will but it would be so much better. He taught me all I know in sign language and I would...

    Wetsuit Decisions

I recommend Akona, Henderson, Cressi, & XS Scuba. Look for the Hyperstretch or something stretch, it makes donning A LOT easier! As others have said, the 1st number (3mm in this example) is for the core, whereas the 2mm is for the extremities (arms & legs). This is pretty standard in most...

    New guy to ScubaBoard

Rich, Welcome to the board. Here is my suggestion..... Do more dives in different places! I've dove in Fiji water and some cold stuff. The experiance of having no wetsuit, and a 7mm farmer john gives you a range of experiances that help you become more comfortable. Test yourself (safely of...

    Hey all, noob here

Welcome to the board and welcome back to diving. Did you like diving in Laguna? I grew up in Mission Viejo, my uncle dives there when he can, but he prefers Catallina. What good spots would you recommend in Laguna and La Jolla?
