    I'm the new Girl!

Welcome Brook... Also a Socal local, now in Utah. It's funny how we define ourselves. You say Volleyball-Diver.. thus holding on to your roots... I still hold on to being a surfer first, then a diver :) Welcome to the scuba board... have fun diving.

    Hello from the Arizona Desert...

Tina... welcome to the forums... I'd second Catalina island. I haven't been diving all over the world... Just Fiji and Hawaii, and I was shoked at how much I enjoyed Catalina. It was right up there with the warmer and more exotic diving locations.

What's up Bill? I liked reading your profile info.... isn't so true we'd rather claim with live somewhere more pleasent... Costa Rica or Fiji does it for me. Welcome back.

    Mask Clearing Lesson

You gotta have that skill down before you leave the pool! with the lack of good defog products (except fog-not it rocks!) you end up flooding your mask anyway!

    Weight-integrated BCD or belt?

I, like others have said, enjoy the integrated weights for the purpose of proper trimming. The shifting I've experianced with a weight belt make it more challenging to be comfortable while diving.... and if it's not fun, why dive? So the integrated BC's make you think of 1 less thing while...

    Help with boots for fins

I'd look into some Bare booties. The 7mm booties are perfect. I used them in Fiji and Catalina. Didn't get too hot in Fiji, so I'd imagine they'd be perfect for Cozumel.

    Mask With Good Peripheral Vision

I second the Tusa Visualator mask. Although I don't have a freakishly fat head :)..... seriously, that is one of my favorites.

    Finally Certified!

Congrats on getting certified. I've been the newbie before too.... we all have. As for diving with newbie's its all about having fun, and if you miss out on 10minutes of diving b/c they blow through their air.... big deal! Just enjoy their experiance as well as yours, and you might find that to...

Right on! Welcome back... isn't great to have your wife involved too? We have 4 kids and they are all young, so it's tuff, but we still find time to get out there together. Welcome to the scuba board!

What do you wear under wetsuit? (MEN)

I go commando. Nothing at all is my preference. Picked up the habit while surfing and I wouldn't have it any other way. Having trunks underneath the suit is murder on comfort!

    Bare Velocity Question

I just sent a note to bare-wetsuits.com and this was their reply, "The wet suit should be a bit snug but not overly tight when you are wearing it, you will find in time that the suit will give as well with normal wear, so I guess the judgement call is yours on how snug you are wanting to wear...

Ways to keep your wetsuit from getting smelly???

Make sure after a thorough rinse you also allow enough time for the thing to dry. I've had a ton of wetsuits between surfing and diving and the best thing for them is a good rinse, and to completely dry out of the sun. Hang them up to dry, never had any problem with terrible odors if i did that.

    avg water temps w/7MM

I've worn a 7mm with a hoodie in 55 degree water and it was plenty warm, I've also warn one in 65 and didn't get to hot. I'd say the range (for me) would be 50 to 70. I'd add a hooded vest for the 50 degree stuff, and keep it off around 70. Cheers!
