    Wing Size Guess

Hi All, I'm moving from a SeaQuest Malibu to a travel BP/W. I plan on getting the basic AL H-backplate, single piece harness (no pads or extra insulation), but keeping my normal kit (light/reg/camera/knife stuff). I've been using the Ulitmate Lift Calculator to optimize the wing size. One...

Should I get the discontinued Oceanic Geo 2.0 or go for something else?

I have one, and the cable. It works flawlessly with Subsurface software. The menu system takes a little concentration, but is not unreasonable. I've made myself a 'cheat sheet' to remember the key things I like to change, but I've never really needed it. Everyone gets all enamored with the...

Stupid question without notice... double tanks

This usually works for me, but I sometimes find 'righty' and 'lefty' can become confused at strange angles or when reaching around/over/through things. For example, with a standard single tank on my back, I can't think 'righty' or 'lefty'. Instead of I think of the direction it would 'roll...

Suggestions for a week in Florida

Blue Heron Bridge is excellent for both snorkeling and diving. It is tide dependent, so google it for the best times. In the Florida keys, most of the snorkeling and diving is offshore. You might be able to finds a boat that allows both on the same trip, maybe at Pennekamp State Park.

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

I remember that VW campaign. I don't think fahrvergnügen was a word before then, so claims my German college roommate. But the Germans have habit of string words together to make new (longer) ones. For example: Fallschirmspringerschule is Fallschirm (parachute), Springer (jumper) and Schule...

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the great replies. To everyone who has offered me money, thanks. I'll wait until I have some viable pieces to ship before I accept it. Good news I've received my first sheet of delrin. The thickness and stiffness appears to be perfect, but I will have to check...

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

Sorry Pete, 2-D only for a laser cutter. I would go 3-d if the 2-d didn't work right.

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

It's only a 2-D drawing I made in inkscape. I uploaded all my work to google drive (jpg, psd, and svg work). I think these URLs will work: web_dom_layout.jpg web_dom15.jpg web-dom-proto.jpg web_dom.psd web_domfullsheet.svg web_dom2.svg web-dom1.svg web_dom.jpg

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

Yes, standard straps for a BPW are 2", same size as my prototype. I'm also going to make some 1.5" models, which is the size of the straps on my current BCD.

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

Today I ordered a 12" x 12" x 3/32" sheet of black Delrin. I hope it is thick enough. I used 1/8" thick acrylic for the prototype and it seemed fine. Delrin is less brittle than the acrylic. I also ordered 100 feet of 1/16" bungee, which is way too much, but the same price as 25ft ?!?! I...

Dealing with rough/sharp edges on webbing and straps

I carefully use my fingers to smooth the melted ends as they cool. Sure, sometimes I get a little burn, but rarely. Just takes some practice to know when it is too hot or too cold. How about using an old iron. melt the edges with a flame. Let it cool. Iron it on 'hot'.

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

Great question. I would really like to use PVC. Unfortunately the exhaust from the laser cutting includes chlorine gas, which is dangerous (and also damages the cutting hardware). PolyVinylChloride

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

Ha!! I didn't even think about the title.... sorry about that. I'm sharing my PM response here, since others may ask the cost... I'm not sure yet. I don't know the cost of the bungee or the envelope/postage. If it was flat, it would be 55 cents for shipping, but with the bend I might need...

Anyone need a scuba web dominator?

Hi all, I'm not very happy with the elastic loops and tire inner tubes I've been using to keep my dangling things from dangling (like flashlights and such). They are never at the right spot or the right size to easily get things in/out. I think a web dominator might be an excellent choice...

    Dive log?

I find the dive log most useful to predict what exposure protection I will need. My notes include what I wore, the water temp, and if I was comfortable.

    STA QUESTION?

Oh, I meant the wing, not the backplate. I guess the four big holes made by the thin webbing cross are 'slots'. The word 'slots' was misleading me.

    STA QUESTION?

OK, I'm a little confused. I don't have a (single tank) BP/W yet, so excuse my ignorance. Why is a STA necessary if the wing doesn't have cam band slots? I'm looking at the DGX package, who's wing has no slots. If a STA was required, why wouldn't they include it in the package. I thought...
