New charges for Sotis (Add helium)and Emilie Voissem (Nexus Underwater)

Not so much case as crate. (I used to have a couple in my workplace). Moving concert grands is more difficult than people realize, a D size has a higher point load than most floors are rated to, most of the weight is out there on the 3rd leg! Plus people don't really like having to pay to have...

    Covid surging in Bonaire

Well, maybe if you live in one of those backwards states... I've got the paper, but also an electronic record with QR code for verification, stored in my Google Wallet. Plus a cool sticker (that says vaccinated!) in my passport from the nice people in Singapore (which was a lot more complicated...

    Covid surging in Bonaire

Yes, PCR is a subset of NAAT. What seems to be the problem is that they have set a standard (NAAT) but are not 100% up to date on what options exist under that standard (like the Abbot ID-NOW test).

Fictiv is great, but even their lowest cost option is going to be close to the cost of buying off the shelf. You can save some more money going to China, it's not hard to have stuff machined via Alibaba. Provided you know how to ask for stuff correctly and make some drawings. A couple of test...

Putting Poseidon Xstream on Scubapro MK 25 Evo

Not true. Really old Poseidon stages might have metric threads. But that's rare. You might be referring to the fact that Xstream and Jetstream stages are downstream regs that will lock up if the IP runs away (most other regs will free-flow). The stock Poseidon hose (might) have a built in OPV...

Cool. My budget is $5k. How many of those printers can I get? ;) They are cool, but unless you are using some of the exotic alloys or impossible geometry, they just don't make sense. (I design 3D printers for a living).

And read this thread so you skip the need for diving to test your housing. https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/diy-dive-computer-pressure-test-chamber-under-80.449200/

3D print gopro 9 housing for deep dive

Based on my experience of clear SLA resin on a Form 2/3: It yellows when fully cured and that gets worse with exposure to sunlight. It's surface is quite soft and will scratch very easily. It's brittle, a thin plate suitable for an optical window would need to be quite thick. The surface finish...

Not brittle, but it does swell. Carbon fiber will probably reduce that a bit, but there's a reason they use polycarbonate for the supersuit. And good reason the Golem Gear housing is aluminum.

Lexan(polycarbonate) is absolutely stronger than Plexiglass (PMMA/acrylic). But we are also talking about 3D printing, where acrylic isn't even an option anyway. Polycarbonate also is much more chemical resistant and fails in predictable and progressive ways. Acrylic just cracks without warning...

3D print gopro 9 housing for deep dive

The magnet idea would have strange mushy physical feedback. And be complicated as you would need retaining features on both sides, and more clearance for springs that would now be inside, not outside. That would add bulk too... But it certainly would reduce potential leak points.

I'll be interested to see the results. You don't see much testing of serious applications publicized. And nylon is probably not going to be as stiff as you want. A carbon fiber filled nylon might be better. Or carbon fiber filled polycarbonate might be even better.

Some of the really high strength resins from FormLabs might well stand up to the forces involved... If you have access to a Form 2/3. And already have the resin and a tank for it. I have some clear and a tank for that, but the upfront cost of the resin and a new tank would be close to the cost...

Using Climbing Ascenders for dropping tanks on a downline

Yeah, that might be an issue. IIRC most petzl gear is designed to work with rope in the 14-18mm range. 25mm probably wouldn't fit!

Using Climbing Ascenders for dropping tanks on a downline

Compared to a tibloc it's rocket surgery!

Using Climbing Ascenders for dropping tanks on a downline

The tibloc is probably perfect. The fancier alternative is: https://m.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/Pulleys/MICRO-TRAXION I have one, for when you need a pulley that can lock. I wouldn't use a prussic knot, too difficult to get it on and off the line. And so long as you rinse it, this stuff should...

I'm curious to see if it works. When you say 3D printed, what process/material? The other option would be to mill one out of 2 or 3 pieces of Polycarbonate. The buttons are always the biggest challenge though.

Trip Report Buddy Dive - Bonaire October 2021

My cunning plan has failed! I was diving the Hooker that day. Bait balls must be common at pier.

What day were you at the salt pier? I'm fairly certain I'm in the background of that video!
