Dive Rescue International Requires you to have a minimum OW cert before you can take their course. My department hosted the DR 1 class last April and everyone learned A Lot!
I don't know much about the other agencies Bridge mentioned but I definitley recommend DRI.
If you plan to host...
You might like to try an all rubber split like the Oceanic V-12. They are a much heavier fin than most splits and as such provides more power. I'm not saying you throw out your Jets but you may like them.
The NEW Hollis Lights have this feature.
Each Segment (Light, electonics, hose, battery) is sealed seperate from the others.
This means that if the wire is sheared all you have to replace is the wire. The rest of the light should be spared.
The Instructors I was referring to have NO shop affiliation. Acctually when I opened my shop I sought out Mares so that I could reccomend Volos to my customers.
Mike is 100% on target.
I like the idea of the pony guage.
I still say if you want a backup keep it in your bag. IMO computer failure is not that big of an issue. Failure is usually only found in newer computers, but respectable companies like oceanic put their products through...
To the OP TRY a pair of anything before you buy them. You will allways find ppl who love or hate any product you ask them about. There are rarely ppl who will give you a neutral response.
The thing alot of posters forget is that what you feel is "best" may only be best for you. Every diver...
My point has nothing to do with physics. It is a cost benefit analysis.
I would rather wear the most comfortable BC possible. When I dive, I dive WITH the current so drag is not an issue.
It is just like the hundred posts I see glorifyibg Jet fins. YES they are a time- tested great...
My dad's Zeagle Ranger had velcro on the bottom of the weight pouches and no ripcord. Obviously Zeagle has corrected this problem from what I have read.
I'm not sure what part of Ohio you are from, but if you are willing to drive to Pittsburgh, PA I would be happy to let you dive a number...
The average SPG with hose and boot costs around $99 MSRP. So as paulwlee said you have a minimal investment there.
One of my customers who recently bought an Atom asked me the same question. I told him in the event of computer/ transmitter failure ABORT dive. However either a spare SPG...
I have yet to offer diving insurance to my customers. when we first were certified my family went with DAN but I've seen a few of the other local shops carrying Dive Assure.
Can anyone share their experiences. I want to hear the good and bad of both companies. why did you choose either...
#3 is the only true advice for ALL styles of divers. It may be true for some. For a recreational diver padding and cummerbunds add comfort: which IMO, next to quality materials and workmanship, is THE most important feature for a recreational diver.
By that logic drysuits and 7mms cause...
The Vyper was my first computer and I liked it alot until I saw what I could have had.
In my Opinion, it is too large to where as a wrist computer. I know it's not much bigger than many other "wrist" computers out there, but when I think of a wrist computer it needs to be small so as not...
