    Need dry suit advice

I love the lightweight packability of shell suits, specifically the new Hollis suits. To me, they are more comfortable. A few of my friends, however, prefer the added warmth of the compressed neoprene. If at all possible you need to be able to try one of each and decide what you prefer.

Shop owners -- What value am I to you?

It really is a combination of many of the posts here. Not to mention that the one person you shoo away because they are "done Buying" is going to tell Everyone that you are an A$$ and that you wouldn't give him the time of day. I just try to treat everyone the same, whether it be the...

Going on a dive trip, what spares do you bring along?

I think 1 spare set of regs is more than sufficent. Lose the rest of the LP/ HP hoses and guages. The spare computer isn't bad. Unless you are on a recovery expedition, you will have no use for that lift bag. Most places do not let you take things. Not only your own strength, but also...

    Is this Offensive?

Thank you, I needed that laugh. I never would have stuck it out to read that far into a thread, so thank you for pouinting that out

    Is this Offensive?

I don't want to sound rude but it seems like every tech diver takes offense to little suggestions made by the recreational crowd. Whether it be the ever hated Split Fin, redundant guages, BCD choice, etc. I am just curious as I read some of the responses to "New to Diving" posts, what is the...

    Dive Computer and/or Analogue Gauges

Where is Sharm? What are the temps like (surface and water) To Backup or not to backup, that is the question... this debate pops up every once in a while but as far as I can tell there is no conclusive result. I dive an Oceanic Atom 2.0, Watch style hoseless AI. I DON'T use any backups...

    Computer to meet MY NEEDS

I cannot recommend Oceanic/ Aeris highly enough! The Pro Plus 2 is what both of my parents use. It is an air integrated Console. A similar watch style would be either the Atom/ Epic or the VT3/ don't know the Aeris name. Both styles are hoseless Air Integrated (AI) wrist computers All of...

    Hollis Drysuit

I have one currently on backorder. I saw them at DEMA (Professional Diving Convention) and loved them. They are light weight, Rugged, and flexible. Although i have not had a chance to dive it I expect it to eliminate the bulky feeling associated with diving dry and cut down on drag!

    Clear Skirts vs Black Skirts

The Oceanic Shadow, as mentioned above is very close to the Atomic as they are both Frameless Ultra low volume masks. The X-Vision has a silverish gray skirt, and is currently my top selling mask. The entire Liquid skin line is awesome! Anyway, There should be no difference between Black/...

Which is the most durable regulator?

MARES Abyss!!! this is IMHO the most bulletproof regulator out there. You have your choice of first stages, either the tried and true MR22 or the newer lighter (yet just as rugged) MR42. These have been a cornerstone of the Mares line for years. Because they are diaphram regulators they...

    Love my new dry gloves

I love my XS Scuba "Dry 5" Gloves. They are 5mm Crushed- Neoprene but completely dry inside. Much more comfortable than the standard blue latex gloves and you don't need to install anything. They also make a 3mm version for more temperate diving.

Where should vs Where do ....

I live in PA where the winters aren't as harsh as they could be, but still cold none the less. I have some gear in the attached, unheated garage, and some in the shed. I keep everything in waterproof (rubbermaid) containers. Most of my gear is 6-8 years old or older and works great. I think...

    Good thing or Bad thing?

I market these to the "parent-kid" buddy teams. I usually reccommend that they buy the computer for themselves and an extra transmitter for the kid.

    Oceanic, Recall Kings

Oceanic's Mantra is "Innovation First" this explains their supposedly above average recalls. Because they are always staying ahead of the curve the variables are enormous. I don't think I have ever heard of an Oceanic/ Aeris product that caused death or serious injury and that is BECAUSE of...

    Dumb wet suit question

Try a Bare 5/4 velocity wetsuit. It is fantastic. My son and I started using one this year and love it. In fact since I startede using a dry suit, this year was the first year in about 6 years that I wore a wetsuit other than a 3 mil. I was extremely comfortable in the Bare and will be using...

    Buying my first gear

Your best priced BCDs are going to be Oceanic/ Aeris (sister companies), Mares, Sherwood. Aqualung/ Seaquest, and Scubapro will claim to be the Best of the Best, but I don't think their price matches their product. Ask your LDS if they will make deals for you. Many will give you "package...

    Full face Mask with Comm

Crimson, I use the OTS AGA with my fire dept, and Love it! The comm is crystal clear. The "New Mask" being mentioned is the Guardian FFM. It is being designed with softer seals for the recreational market. And it will be available in nifty colors :) If you're not in a hurry I'd...

Which set of budget gear (Aqualung, Mares, or Scubapro)?

I also vote MARES. However she may want to bump up to the weight integrated Origin Sport MRS Plus. Not to throw another curve at you but Oceanic makes great gear for an excellent price.

HP steel 119s or 120s for first set of tanks?

That's weird. I wouldn't think that was physically possible:11: I have never used an 8" tank either. The HP 120s seem to sell very well from my store. I like that they are roughly the same size as the aluminum 80.

    What kind of fin?

Kudos here, But back to your previous post where you blasted the DACOR Black Tigers. Have you ever tried the MARES Volos? They are incredibly Agile, Versitile, and Efficient. The only down- side in my opinion would be in a Ripping current (their thrust capacity peaks) You can theoretically...
