They are cute & cuddly vegetarians that can grow bigger than a cat. they are also purple. I never get tired of watching them graze on rocks.

    Miracle

HA HA! That is so cute! Now I want to dive with Killer whales. Guess the trick would be to bring all those old fins that you no longer use & let her have a great time with them!

    Old Marineland

I have dove it once, also from shore & thought it was pretty, but indeed, the waves got pretty big for a while. If you get there & it is not working out for you, check out Malaga Cove & Redondo. There are lots of other great sites right around there that you could use as a backup plan if...

    Night dive under full moon?

I like night diving period. I think you are smart to follow Chiara's advice on the torch. I would add that it would be sensible to have a fleece diveskin or a thin wetsuit for protection. It is still good to wear a glo-stick or other luminescent thing on your tank to make you more visible...

Ear aches and nose bleeds from diving?

I used to get ear infections all the time & a Dr. once advised me to get tubes in my ears. I have them very rarely since I have started diving. I got a nosebleed once upon surfacing in particualrly cold water, but that was a long time ago. Deafness? I have heard that diving a LOT in very...

    Hint for decreasing weights?

I dropped my weightbelt from 32lbs to 21lbs in less than a year by getting more relaxed & changing my gear. I went from a 2-pc to a 1-pc. I added a fleece lycra suit under the wetsuit. It adds warmth but, when it absorbs water, becomes NEGATIVELY buoyant. I also got rid of my complicated...

    Whose going Christmas diving?

Last X-mas morning we met some friends to dive in Laguna Beach in southern California. It was sunny & still, like a X-mas miracle shining thru the waves. I wore some of my X-mas gifts (in spite of the cast I know you should try everything in the pool before you take it in the ocean.) If you...

TUSA Platina Plus fins for women

Glad to hear you found something that gives good function. I do not blame anyone for wanting to look nifty underwater. We pay plenty for this stuff. Lots of the gear is very popular & I think I should come in a variety of colors so we can tell our stuff apart. I love the "pumpkin" image...

    steel tanks

I have seen lots of divers recently with some 3500psi compressed steel tanks whereas they used to use an AL80. They say great things about them, but are there drawbacks?

    HELP, for larger size wetsuit!!!

I have had my 1-pc hyperstretch fo a year now & have dived & dived in it (about 50 dives this year). It is comfortable, dries faster than my old one, & actually even looks good (Designed to make you look a little thinner)

    "Different" Women?

Well, the majority of MEN don't dive either. Here's what I see: the women I know who dive have good jobs of their own or are doing it with husbands who have really good jobs & the money to pay for both. The women I see taking classes either have not had kids yet or are done raising their...

    Bad Examples Everywhere

My husband & I often notice the ads for destinations on TV with the divers with awful kicks, lousy trim, but gorgeous bodies & colorful swimwear. Guess the advertiser did not want to invest in the full weekend-long course for his models.

What to do for Christmas list?

You don't really need to know what suit u r getting to pick a hood. Depending on where u will be diving, it may be good to just get a plain hood with a cowl as opposed to a hooded vest. The Hyperstretch is a $40 dream come true! Won;t squeeze your windpipe like the others.

    New diving regulation in Israel

There are so many things that can cause a diving fatality that I am not sure that any amount of legislation can plug the holes. Deaths that are publicized make people think they have to do something to prevent more. Is the issue here that newly certified divers are the majority of the diver...

    Pool Session #2

James, Ha Ha! I got quite a giggle at the thought of you whizzing into the water in a wheelchair! It reminds me of a weekend when my husband sat out the instructor course tryout because his gout was acting up. He stood on the shore leaning on his cane & watched the other...
