    750 lb hammerhead

Finning is not widely accepted, at least in our culture. It is seen as cruel and unusual punishment. Live sharks, have their fins cut off, and then dumped back into the ocean, leaving them to die. It would be like me hauling you out of the pool, cutting off your arms & legs and throwing you...

What gave you the impression that I am for finning?

    750 lb hammerhead

What a shame. It's too bad they killed a beautiful fish like that so they could bury it in an orange grove. What a waste.

Don't be too proud to ask for help...

Holy Stuff Doc, I just looked at your gallery, I take it you aren't claustrophobic! Man, the first pic looks like it might be fun, the second looks uncomfortable, and the 3rd pic looks like you might be half mole! I think I just hijacked my own thread...

Don't be too proud to ask for help...

I can actually see this guy now. He is probably a member of this board, and he's reading this saying..."WOW, those people must have been real morons...Hey, honey come read this!" Then, of course, the wife reads it and says to herself "WOW, I married a moron."

Don't be too proud to ask for help...

Strange, they didn't ask much after I "helped" them the first time. ;)

Don't be too proud to ask for help...

I watched for quite a while, could have stayed longer if I hadn't needed to relieve myself. There was probably a greater chance of them buying me another beer than actually getting it right. Besides, if I would have waited too long, they would have had sun stroke trying to figure all of this...

Seriously, though, where was the picture taken, what depth and anything else you can tell us.

That's Ralph, I'd recognize him anywhere.

    Rituals and Superstitions?

ROFL...I didn't know that was a superstition! For me it is a more of a "I don't want to crap on the boat or in the ocean" sort of thing! I'm just trying to look out for my fellow divers :D

    How did you get here?

It was either scuba diving or marriage counciling...I think we choose the right one, we're still married...:)

    spouse/buddy rules?

Depends on your levels of comfort. My wife is a one time a year diver. My normal dive buddy and I dive about 75 times a year. I'm a lot more cautious with her than I am with my regular buddy. Maybe you should just up your life insurance on him...;)

Don't be too proud to ask for help...

That describes my late grandfather perfectly. Same guy that got mad if there were crumbs in the butter! Can't say I miss him.

Don't be too proud to ask for help...

OK, so I partied way too hard during Carnivale in Coz, but at least I knew it, and decided to sit by the pool all day and catch some sun. As I'm lying there, trying to rationalize why I drank so much that I couldn't go diving, a man and woman haul some tanks over to the steps to do a shore...

Favorite place to dive in Central America and South America

Roatan and Utila are both nice. Belize is nice as well. Costa Rica was probably the best diving I have ever done if you don't mind not having clear water. As far as price, you can stay anywhere cheap if you are willing.

A career as a dive instructor - realistic or idealistic?

I have a friend that is in Utila right now, doing the same thing as you. If I weren't married, and a father, I would have been with him on this trip. Best of luck to you, and congratulations on your decision. Let us all know where you end up, maybe someday you will be taking us diving.
