I watched for quite a while, could have stayed longer if I hadn't needed to relieve myself. There was probably a greater chance of them buying me another beer than actually getting it right. Besides, if I would have waited too long, they would have had sun stroke trying to figure all of this...

ROFL...I didn't know that was a superstition! For me it is a more of a "I don't want to crap on the boat or in the ocean" sort of thing! I'm just trying to look out for my fellow divers :D

Depends on your levels of comfort. My wife is a one time a year diver. My normal dive buddy and I dive about 75 times a year. I'm a lot more cautious with her than I am with my regular buddy. Maybe you should just up your life insurance on him...;)

That describes my late grandfather perfectly. Same guy that got mad if there were crumbs in the butter! Can't say I miss him.

OK, so I partied way too hard during Carnivale in Coz, but at least I knew it, and decided to sit by the pool all day and catch some sun. As I'm lying there, trying to rationalize why I drank so much that I couldn't go diving, a man and woman haul some tanks over to the steps to do a shore...

There is no substitute for getting wet.

Roatan and Utila are both nice. Belize is nice as well. Costa Rica was probably the best diving I have ever done if you don't mind not having clear water. As far as price, you can stay anywhere cheap if you are willing.

I have a friend that is in Utila right now, doing the same thing as you. If I weren't married, and a father, I would have been with him on this trip. Best of luck to you, and congratulations on your decision. Let us all know where you end up, maybe someday you will be taking us diving.
