    favorite canister Light mounting

OC----double 119's, Apeks ss backplate, Apeks wtx3 wing for singles and wtx 4 wing for doubles. I've got a belt loop on it(the light can) now just haven't tried it. Also, I ordered a Dive Rite canister mounting strap that allows it to mount to the backplate. It was less than $10, so if it...

    favorite canister Light mounting

What is your favorite way to mount the canister of your light and why? I just got one and it came with a mount that mounts to the side of a tank...I don't like it because I can't reach it. What about a belt mount or mounting it to the backplate side, or some other way. Thanks in advance for any...

What is the ribbed hose that is in the last picture? There is a bunch of it in the forward blast hole. Looks like modern 2 inch corrugated hose.

Older Dive Rite Can light 20 or 10 watt

The manual says "Wreck light" at the top, I've got the manual. It is a MR-11 quartz-halogen 20w bulb. So I guess it's a 20w light. Where did you get a 50 watt bulb? I'd like to have one. My confusion comes from the diveritexpress website. Did some of these lights sell with 10W bulbs??? The...

Older Dive Rite Can light 20 or 10 watt

I've got an older Dive Rite can light that I picked up and not sure if it's 10w or 20w. It uses 12volt 2.9 AH sealed lead acid batteries. The MR11 lightbulb says 20w but on the diveriteexpress website it talks about converting it from a 10w HID light to a LED ???? Any ideas or knowledge of...

new OW students in BP/wing or Jacket BCD

Thanks for all the responses! Keep the good info coming. I would like to hear from some instructors who DON'T LIKE BP/wings.....and why, or from some instructors that may not like technical diving...and why? Thanks guys.

Hiring Part-Time and possibly Full-Time divers

Read my post, I said you can work for yourself, by yourself. It doesn't take a Kirby Morgan helmet, surface supplied air, a huge barge with crew, and lots of gear to clean hulls. Don't over complicate it. I can clean the hull of a 100 ft boat by myself in a few hours. That's doing it by hand. If...

new OW students in BP/wing or Jacket BCD

I've always used jacket type BCD's with students for the simple reason the dive shop that I teach for discourages any type of technical diving--including the gear.(I was told don't leave my double tanks around because they will SCARE students!) Anyway, have or do any of you instructors started...

Hiring Part-Time and possibly Full-Time divers

There are NO LAWS that says a diver has to be certified to go diving. If a guy has all his own gear, can fill his own tanks, and knows how to clean a hull....well here in the U.S. he can go clean hulls. I don't know how that applies to working for someone else, but you can do it on your own...

What are some other charter boats that go to the 853? I would like to go back this season but can only go on sundays. Atlantis doesn't have any sunday charters to the 853 for the rest of the season or I would definatlly use them again. Any suggestions? preferably a boat out of RI or CT. I think...

    I like Hollis F1 but...

I'm also looking at the Hollis F1. I've used Turtle fins for about five years now with OMS spring straps. I probably had 500+ dives on the pair when I jumped in off the boat yesterday and my right fin came off and was GONE! So now I'm fin shopping. Anyone used F1 fins next to Turtles???

Did the dive this morning. Really nice! Vis was about 20-25 feet. The interior was super cool. We went from the forward blast hole through to the back blast hole. Plenty of room for a big diver. Even between the engines, I stayed slightly above the fuel lines and had NO problems. After that we...

I don't plan on doing the "grand tour" this trip. Maybe sometime in the future. We plan on going from forward blast hole to aft blast hole. My only concern is the spacing between the deisel engines. I'm a pretty big guy, 225lbs and 6'2" wearing a neoprene dry suit and twin 119's. Do you guys...

All I can say is WOW! Thank you for taking the time to give us such a detailed description of the wreck. I really appreciate the info. I'll post back in about a month and let you know what we did. Thanks again, Bell47.
