I'm the second one who bought one Cressi Digi 2 spg.
The cover plate has a small magnet on the bottom right corner that is necessary in case you want to change from metric to imperial units.
In that case you do not need to pressurize the spg.
You can also use any small magnet for the purpose.
Probably grinding a normal socket would fit, just grab a cheap one with the 1/4 " or 1/2" hex socket and go easy.
I don't think the nut is deadly tightened.
just my 2c.
Might it have been banged ? In that case the spring could have been compressed for a moment and that caused a temporary loss of power.
Just my 2 cents.
Could it be a anchor point for disassembling ? The rubber plug just to avoid dirty or any other things going inside and start corrosion.
If it is not threaded I suppose it is a blind hole.
I added the 5th port and using the long hose, its routing goes straight down toward my right hip.
All the others hoses are straightforward.
You have only to choose if the backup should go over the shoulder or not.
I use also the right hp port with a trasmintter attached to a 15cm hose.

Just for statistic purpose I had a leakage (not a complete failure) from a small o-ring in the swivel of my SPG.
It was just a beginning of a dive, but I kept going because it was not an issue diving to 25 m.

For tec dives I always analyze every tank , whatever mix is supposed to be inside...
There are sturdy plastic tank straps that are lighter than steel ones. They could also be fiberglass reinforced nylon. Personally I bought DTD Al ones. Don't know how they compare to the plastic ones. My choice was due the possible degradation of some plastics with salt and sunlight ...

uhm, and if the mechanical had a salt crystal developing in the gears and it slowly respond to pressure dropping ?
It is slow and until the force is not enough the mechanical seem "sticking" ... if you suddenly drop the pressure you could not notice it, but during the dive pressure drops slowly...
