    Multi-Day Dive Boat Buying Suggestions

The need for a scuba compressor has occurred to me as well, but I was telling (lying to) myself that I could probably live without one. I notice you mention that your boat is wood construction, which I believe has it's own cost/maintenance considerations, but that aside, do you mind if I ask...

    Multi-Day Dive Boat Buying Suggestions

Thanks for all the candid insights and suggestions so far; it sounds like I may have started with a null set and need to revise. Correct me here, but it seems I either need to ditch the trailer, or trip duration. If I ditch the trailer, what length range would be recommended? Regardless of...

    Multi-Day Dive Boat Buying Suggestions

That's not a brand I've come across yet, so thanks for the pointer. Their website doesn't seem to list the layout options, but I bet they can email something to me. Twin outboards is a nice option, too.

    Multi-Day Dive Boat Buying Suggestions

I've been wrestling with that trade-off already, but am not quite ready to give up the travel range that a trailer brings to the table; if I was retired, I'd say moor it and enjoy chugging from A to B. As it is, I may still go that route, but the time-cost is real. Do you have a moored boat...

    Multi-Day Dive Boat Buying Suggestions

With Covid wrecking havoc of my destination dives trips I'm seriously looking into getting a boat that can let me do more local dive vacations instead. I'm located in Washington State, so I have the whole Salish Sea and Vancouver B.C. to explore. I'm also doing MOD 1 a year from now, so I will...

Thanks, and no worries. Knowing that Leon and Wayne are active on FB is a big help for when I start having specific questions. It's too bad ISC is moving to Texas, but I know a lot of companies are, and at least that's still in the US.

Thanks for all the info. It's a balancing act between armchair academics and spending a ton of cash on a unit and accessories that is sub-optimal for my needs (then spending more to get the right one.) Rjack321: do you know any good forums to chat with ISC divers (beside here)? Their FB page...

Great info. My most common, non-trimmed position is a slight head-down, and on rare occasions completely inverted with feet up, but virtually never on my back (not for photography, anyway.)

Fair point, I'm not actively looking at the Revo at this point in time (I did see a Meg sitting in Mel's garage, but she opted to a different unit during my AN/DP class with her.) Have you had personal interaction/training with Leon, or just by reputation? ISC is only 90 minutes north of me...

Thanks for the info, a skilled, organized instructor goes a long ways. Also, since it sounds like you are actively diving a JJ, how is the WOB when inverted? I get into rather odd positions sometimes when taking photos.

Given that I see almost no used JJ's for sale, should I infer that JJ owners are happy with their units? Clearly KenGordon does, per his post above. I do see the occasional used Meg for sale, but maybe there are just more of them out there? Mel teaches on both the Meg and JJ, so I'm covered...

I have only heard good things about JJ, so thanks for chiming in.

I agree, for coldwater the SW sucks, but the shop I use in Mexico loves them for the caves there, so since I will be in Tulum anyway for some more cave training, I wanted to see what CCR is all about. For our local waters I'm looking at either JJ or a Meg, because hey, who needs to retire...

Nice, I did AN/DP with Mel. Now that she is building a house in Florida, I doubt I will see much of her around here...

After telling myself I'd never switch to CCR, I'm beginning to hear the siren call and am going to do a try-dive on a Sidewinder next Spring in Tulum... Until then, do any of you have recommend/favorite books on the subject to keep me busy until then? Although I have a couple of units that...
