Do you have either of these tank straps?

I have the same problem as well with the Highland version. Open them up but there is still not enough slack to unhook. Totally unusable as far as I am concerned. They will be the next piece of kit to go in the bin.

Opinions on dive ops for Poor Knights Daytrips

I used Dive Tutukaka 5 years ago and I found them to be OK. Not the smiliest bunch but they did seem to run things efficiently and safely. I recall that even though the boat had quite a few divers it didn't seem crowded. They allow unguided diving after proof of proficiency or will guide on...

    Dive Report - Maui

Acanthurus and I have just returned from 2 fun weeks in Maui and we would like to make special mention of some of the dive operators we had the pleasure of meeting there. First, Doug "Eel Whisperer" Corbin, aka shakadoug. We did 8 dives with him and had a great time. We know that shore diving...

North Island of New Zealand late February early March

I can only comment on the Bay of Islands area. I dove two days at Poor Knights with Dive Tutakaka out of Whangarei in 2005. They are an OK operation and they had a couple of good sized boats at the time. It looked like one boat had the more experienced divers and one had the drop ins...like...

    How Many Dives in 2010.

54 dives - not too bad considering we have to travel to dive most of the year! Sas, hope you are OK after a dive that "did not go well!" oops didn't realise I was on Bygolly's log in - its Acanthurus here

    Deco for Divers & VPM.

I believe you are right Kern. It does talk of the VPM-A model in that it performed well in the range of 50-80 meters but outside these depths the model was too conservative on the shallow end and not at deeper depths. My version of the book talks of this on page 167 top paragraph. I think a...

    Does this exist?

Another vote for the Aqualung Zuma. A nice BC, very packable, integrated weights and light and if Aqualung were to eliminate the padding nothing else would come close.

    Charter boat etiquette

Although it is essential and appropriate to ask during the dive, the postdive question I would appreciate never hearing again is "How much air do you have left?" On a dive boat I think it creates an atmosphere of competition that does not help the confidence of the inexperienced diver and...

    Help Please. Recall signal...

I'll second what bigharrydiver said about the "dive alert". Not loud enough for a recall but OK if your buddy is fairly close. I'm curious now...where is your shop and operation and what do you call it?

    Donny Reid lecture tomorrow

Dang Dale....that would have been fun to go to...but too far on short notice. But if you go make sure you introduce yourself to Andy Lamb...he is the gentleman with the beard pictured in the pdf and is the author of "Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest" and "Coastal Fishes". Very nice and...

    Rig Recommendation

Sure, we can do that. Might take a day or so to get near some water though. Some of the 10 lb difference is due to tank differences, steel to aluminum. As to the size of the plate, where should we measure from and to? Cheers, Bill
