Trouble with the back kick manoeuvre Help!

I'll have to second the pause at the legs straight position, it makes you bring the fins together and sets the stage for the important part of the backfin. I visualize my fins spreading outwards and pulling my body towards my fins instead of thinking about dragging my body through the water...

    Can light for recreational dives?

Typical ocean diving in florida still has benefits from using the cannister. Not only for communication but for peeking under, around and into things as well as a light source for photography. I'm always amazed how much I'm missing when I leave it behind, even the 15' bridge dive benefits:D...

Thats a great site for the Bridge! Yes I really enjoy taking Pics, one out of a thousand actually comes out really good:D Jim I was using double 80's and my buddy was using a single 80. Guess who has the betterr sac rate? With the moon being full the actual usable dive time was greatly...

Blue Heron Bridge was fun Today

We had a nice dive this morning at the "Bridge". Vis was down a bit due to the weather conditions but we still managed a 120 min bottom time and had a fun time with a few of the local marinelife regulars. What a nice way to spend a sunday morning:D Henry

    Good Explanation of Dir

I keep seeing the questions on What is Dir? and most of the answers are all over the place. Heres an essay on a very nice Dir website that I've used many times in the last few years. (The 32% table he has is in many of our wetnotes!) DIR-diver.com - DIR - An essay DIR-diver.com - DIR - An...

    Using 30/30

30/30 in the 100 to 120 range works great here too. It never ceases to amaze me how simple tasks are so much easier with the 30/30. Henry

ball on the end of a reel?

I was actually encouraged to remove my "Bead" during the line drills of T-1. Its not considered Dir. (It sure makes it a lot easier to undo the reel though). In its place we knotted up the end point of the line to provide a grip for removal. They had great names for all of these pieces, I hope...

    Winding up finger spools

Aj, good call on the double ender. I'll give that one a go. Mark, the wind and flip is basically what I use now, still ending up with twist in the line. I guess I should mention that I'm kinda anal about such things.. If only I had the motor skills to do a factory wrap:D Henry

    Winding up finger spools

Compudude, yes we rewind all of our used spools and reels on land before they get used again, its just that the small spools always seem to end up with so much twist in the line when I'm finished.(On land or water). Henry

    Winding up finger spools

Ok here goes another post hopefully in the right area:D Does anyone use any special techniques to reel up a finger spool so that the end wrap isnt so twisted that getting the reel unhooked is possible? My primary reel works great with the handle, but its those finger spools that end up...

    Report on my GUE-Fundies

Congratulations on the Fundies:D For me the real payoff was many months later when I realized how easy all the skills are now as compared to how difficult they seemed back when I was first introduced:D Of course I'm not saying that I'm really great at them, I'm constantly learning and enjoying...

How to fold and stow the lift bag in the backplate?

Check out this post by MBH. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/dir/201458-shooting-big-bag.html Worked pretty good for me and the wooden spoon trick makes stuffing it up the backplate bag very easy. Henry

    GUE Cave 1 Multi-Weekend Class

The Divas hit the water--I mean chocolate milk

I went with the Halcyon belt pocket after the tucking in phase of my diving, it worked and still works when I use it with a single 80. It took me a while to figure out that I needed a cannister light, but with vis like we have here I'd expect as much:D The long hose loops under the side pocket...
