OK, I bought the safety sausage

Where I'm from (New England) you need to carry a floating flag. Is this a replacement for the sausage thing I hear about here? Do you not need to carry a flag where you dive?

Getting new reg. DIN v. Yoke

I sorta agree with the people who spoke so far. My one point of disagreement is that people go through less air in warmer water, and in SC or the tropics, yoke is the standard, and since you will NEVER bring your own tank, you need to be compatible with rented tanks. Personally, I am...

    No Octo?? Here goes...Blast away!!

I chose not to dive with any octo myself. It bangs around too much. I also hate having a primary. I don't like stuff in my mouth. Safety is for the weak. If it isn't convenient, I just don't do it. It's also why I don't use a tank. Too heavy. Anyone wanna hit the Doria with me this weekend?

Looking to dive, Sat 2/11, anyone in?

I actually LEARNED in the tropics. Got a bit bored on a vacation in the Bahamas, but not bored enough to play anymore blackjack. I thought I'd save money if I learned to dive. Oh the irony! It is TOTALLY a different world...but if you can dive well here...well, we all know how that...

    DIN and Yoke..1st stage modifications

The tanks are 100 cu foot, 3498 PSI for those of you who wanted specs. Besides being more convienient for local dives, I picked up an additional 20 cubic feet of air--most rentals are al 80s. Also, diving in a part of the world where weight is needed, a heavy tank means less lead. Thanks...

Which regulator is best for both cold and warm water diving

I don't use the Sherwood Blizzard, I have a Sherwood Oasis. The two are fundementally the same--the same pieces of metal that keep me from getting dry mouth in the warm waters keep my heat in the reg after I breath out in cold areas. Sherwoods cost some money. There isn't anything I can say...

    DIN and Yoke..1st stage modifications

You know that saying that the more you learn about a subject, the more you realize how little of topic you really, really know? I need a bit of help here, but I'm sure that this has been covered before. Sorry. I have a Sherwood 1st stage and Sherwood Oasis 2nd stage. The 1st stage is a yoke...

    HELP! Faber Steel HP 100s

Everybody! Thank Mark! He helped me! Really! I'm glad you used your precious time to write that. Honest. I do recognize that DIN is choice that will help me breath, even when I am underwater. I'm curious about getting both tanks set up for nitrox, when I plan on breathing air 33% of the...

    HELP! Faber Steel HP 100s

Can I expose some ignorance here??? I'm a big nitrox guy, within the 40% limit--I plan on getting further with that, but that is another story. How about getting both tanks cleaned for O2? As far as I recall my training, I can do that and still get air fills from my LDS as long as it uses...

    HELP! Faber Steel HP 100s

A friend of a friend is selling 2 Faber HP steel 100s. Are these a good tank? It would be nice to be able to drop some weight from my belt, but it means buying a DIN reg. Anyone use these? What is your opinion???

    Instructors in the Boston area?

I've been instruced in several places around the world, by far the best experience I had was with PG Dive in Newton. These are people who teach and dive because they want to share their passion for diving. Marc Gaskin is excellent, and although I've never taken a class from Genevieve, she...
