    USVI to BVI ferries?

There is a hydrofoil ferry that goes between St. Thomas and St. Croix... that way you can dive in the morning :) I'm not sure of the price off-hand but I think it's around $80 a person and takes a couple of hours.

Inflator hose and Dive Rite Wing

Yes, there are after-market inflators you can add. You might also be able to retrofit an inflator from another BCD.

    Photo feedback wanted

Oh no... those are horrible... they just don't have "the essence." Christie's would never auction those. Just kidding of course :) wow! Those are GREAT! What's your equipment? How do you get the focus so sharp?

    Olympus 5/21- 5/22

Hi Folks, I went out with Olympus this past weekend, Saturday was pretty rough with swells at 6 feet out at Indra (a couple of seasoned divers puked including myself - but hey). Vis and temp weren't bad at 30-50 feet and 62 degrees, be sure to bring your hood or beenie and gloves. Surge...

Help! Which dive op to use in Tortola, BVI

I dive extensively throughout the BVI several times a year, you can't go wrong with any of those operators. Be sure to tell them exactly the type of diving you like to do, and they will try and find a way to get you on the dives you want.

    Roller backpack with handle recommendations?

On my Akona, I had backstraps and they were fine, but the D ring they connected to at the bottom of the bag was made of plastic. One day, when the bag was particularly heavy, it snapped. Also - something to take into consideration, 99% of these bags are not waterproof. They might say...

Looking for Software Quality Engineer Job

Hi Folks, I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a company that is looking for a seasoned Software QA Engineer somewhere warm where there is lots of diving? I'm willing to make fairly large concessions with salary. I'm not looking for a complete dream job, just to take a break from Washington...

    Roller backpack with handle recommendations?

I had an Akona, the stiching came out and the zipper handles broke off. I've had a "Lands End" duffle bag that has gotten through 25 years of international travel without so much as a sneeze. I turned it into a roller duffer by buying an external cart (actually it was a cart/cooler combo I...

    black vs. colored fins--opinions?

They are easy to see, which makes it easy to distinguish me from other divers, and they would (if I ever needed them) make a good signaling device.

    Anybody remember the first Survivor?

Personally, I liked this past "Survivor". I thought Tom played a great game. Ian was too young to know how much 1,000,000 is worth and not worth. I don't think he lost any integrity until he started crying on the beach... for someone he JUST MET a couple of weeks ago. Amazing. Tom won fair and...

    Hoseless Computers atrracting sharks

"These electrical cues would be meaningless to sharks, were it not for the astonishing sensitivity of their ampullae. Studies by Adrianus Kalmijn, a pioneer in elasmobranch electroreception, have demonstrated that some sharks -- such as Smooth Dogfish (Mustelus canis) -- are able to detect low...

    Should Nitrox Certification require dives....

no - I see no reason for it. As a matter of fact I bet we would see a couple of store balk at the idea of doing the "nitrox openwater" using air instead... I wonder what they would say about losing $20 a student. The idea of requiring dives for nitrox is stupid and I see no use for it. ok -...

St Thomas US virgin Islands Anyone been there?

While it might seem very romantic to move to the caribbean - if you talk to anyone that has actually lived there for more than five years and [isn't a hippie or dive instructor] they will tell you to stay in the states and make your money elsewhere. I've had a house in the BVI for 25 years...

    Review of Brookstone TSA Locks

I don't know - I have had mine since I posted the start of this thread and flown maybe a dozen times since. In each case, they have relocked my bags. Here is the link to pacsafe: http://www.pac-safe.com/ I bought one and placed it INSIDE my bag. If they cut the bag open, they still...

looking for GPS waypoints + descripts for USVI and BVI

Based on what you have just told me - I would say that it's lunacy for you guys to go diving on your own. 1) if something goes wrong - you will need more than one experienced diver to handle it. 2) you really won't enjoy your dives as much because you'll be trying to figure out where to go...
