If I were a solo diver...

I agree, pretty much. The big deal is that good, conscientious divers don’t live in a vacuum (definitely not when they post in here!). If people in a position of "know" don't explain fully the risks, a premature diver might think he or she is ready to dive solo. I’m convinced...

If I were a solo diver...

Sure, anything that can keep you under. Mono, rope, webbing and wire. Wire is a particularly nasty hazard in some of its forms and can be awfully tough to cut. JB

    Freediver: Tanya Streeter

The sled is No Limits. I saw that and was a little disappointed with the lack of video of her pushing it. But she did do an awfully tough freedive (well, with a torpedo anyway) in the Blue Hole a couple hundred feet deep and into an overhead environment. Very impressive. Hey...

Entanglement is the big risk for a solo diver that is properly equipped and experienced. JB

Great White Vs Mako Shark - help!!

Yeah, but the great white isn't exactly Butterbean! More of a Bob Sapp or Nikolay Valuev kind of shark. Let's see Pacquiao take one of those guys. :)

Well, more power to ya Creed. I'm really curious about how your reg comes out. At the very least, post up some pictures for us. I made a regulator in college for a hydroponics project. I had to fool with it endlessly. But, then again, I was a Lit. major... :) Good luck. JB

My "Places I Won't Dive" List (and yours...)

Well, shoot DrB. I'm an acquisition consultant and I still dive lakes. :) True, they aren't nearly as colorful or warm (most of them), but I have a good time in a few of them. I love L. Mich.

Right, right. Well, unless you're family or my dive buddy I really don't care who does what. You've quite boldly stated that a "machinist with a good working knowledge of valves and regulators" could "bang out a simple and safe regulator" with the use of "quality tools." You've very...

Yeah, I get that it's possible. I've seen strange things too. Wings I can see, definitely, even though still I don't think it's advisable. Not a regulator though. Talk about an idiotic way for a very talented machinist to die. JB

If you can pull it off, shoot, more power to you. But wings, tanks, and regulators are for real cowboys. Just because it's possible to make doesn't mean it should be. I can deal with a broken John line or my stage falling off. Heck, I can deal with my harness breaking but I won't test...
