Wanted: TDI or PADI Basic Nitrox Course Materials

I'll be taking intro to nitrox in a few weeks, and the instructor is happy to have me use either agency's materials. Please let me know if you've got any just taking up space!

What a great day with Scubamau!!!

Don, this is a surprisingly glib response from you given how much sensible stuff you post on safety-consciousness. I wouldn't expect the DM to have followed Kevin to 175 ft. I would expect an appropriately safety-conscious DM, and a DM who cares about his employer's reputation, to tell Kevin...

What a great day with Scubamau!!!

I'd guess that all the certifying agencies view solo diving to 175 ft on air as reckless, no matter the experience of the diver. That the DM turned his back on this kind of diving doesn't speak well for the DM or his employer.

    Canon S95 camera specifics

I just got an S95 and the mode dial is noticeably difficult to turn, much more than the S70 it supersedes.

    Sad

Well, just to add to the weirdness, according to this report (warning -- the video features several post-mortem pictures), Ms. Thomas swallowed the safety pin and Ms. Markievitz was found in the water with head injuries. Throwing in the kitchen sink, the Mexican authorities note that, in...

    Does human touch harm Octopi?

Hmmm, well, if we approve hunting a particular critter, it's hard to object to touching it gently, or even gently picking it up. I mean, torturing the poor beastie is one thing, but it seems hypocritical to be willing to eat an animal then turn one's nose up at something that might merely annoy...

I guess I'm wading into a $&%^storm here, but I found ddeb's explication of local politics interesting and helpful. :scubahelmet: [just wanted to use the scuba helmet; it's not really apropos]

    Sad

Well, pigs will be spotted in American skies tonight, what with me defending Fox News and all, but the article did say the following: "Cozumel, one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations, is far removed from the drug gang violence plaguing the country's northern border with the U.S. and...

    Scubatoys Regulator Service

Got a note today that they've finished my Aqualung regulators and sent them off to me today. They weren't under warranty, but ST did service them. Didn't charge me for return shipping, either. I bought some hose protectors and had to get a new HP hose, but the total was less than the $50 free...

    New James Cameron movie..."Sanctum"

I'm up for a movie about cave diving, though storywise it looks like The Poseidon Adventure in a cave. Which kind of dates me, huh?

    dive log binders?

Or you could buy a 5.5 x 8.5 binder from Amazon for less than $8: Amazon.com: 5.5 x 8.5 binder: Office Products. I'm convinced PADI uses an oddball size sheet so they and dive shops can charge you $25 or $30 for a $7 binder. If you want a dive flag on the cover, you could buy a nice paint set...
