    Hair Care when diving

Yeah, mask straps do tear my hair, no matter what kind I get, but not when the strap is over the beanie. But if I dive without the beanie, my hair will get so tangled that I can't comb it out with any sort of product without tearing it. I'm talking about those dorkie neoprene beanies with a...

    Hair Care when diving

Well the bottom line is, your hair and color will be better protected if you saturate it with something, even water, before jumping. Saltwater is torture on hair, and whatever penetrates the hair shaft first will be what has the most influence. You won't get as much saltwater penetration into...

    Hair Care when diving

I have baby fine hair and no sort of braid or ponytail or clips worked. My hair was ripping to shreds. My hair dresser suggested that I wet my hair before diving to saturate the hair shaft. Sometimes I will saturate it with a spray on conditioner. I put it in pig tails (better than pony...

Grand Cayman Favorite Dive Sites, Restaurants, Things to Do

Cool, some funky stuff, thanks caymaniac! I really really appreciate all of the input. As I stated up front, someone else gets to pay for this trip. All of it. So doing some homework up front will make it a lot more fun. Can't wait.

Blasphemy, you are messing with my religion now. I'm an Eastern North Carolinian.

Grand Cayman Favorite Dive Sites, Restaurants, Things to Do

Gotcha. Your original post said Mama's Fish House in Maui, HI and I just went "huh?" Sounds like I could walk anywhere I wanted to go in GC. I routinely walk 12 on "my" island, Bogue Banks. Going to need to do a lot of walking to make up for all the eating. If we ever get out of the RC spa!

Thanks for the tip. I suspect we will not get a car, unless the island looks like one where we want to explore and not just go from point A to B. Thanks everyone for the great suggestions on all fronts. Should be a good time.

Where to go in the Caymans

:) Clive of the resort staff is a lovely soul, I will miss the other Clive next time I visit there, he was great and always looking out for everyone's safety. I imagine so! I am looking forward to it. It has been a tough FEW YEARS, so I was looking for some downtime to go with all that good...

Where to go for quiet, no night life, experienced divers and Nitrox?

Your headline says it all. That's why I keep returning to Little Cayman. There is nothing to do but diving and that which you create. A walk. A book. A game. Conversation. Honestly, all of the resorts are good, just depends on exactly what mix you are looking for. I haven't stayed at...

Good point Mark and Bill. I don't know if we will get a car or not. Depends on the availability of cabs and whether or not we need/want to go very far from our resort. I've driven in the UK. And my little city here has just put in a few roundabouts. It is hysterical watching folks learn how...

Where to go in the Caymans

Though I must say that the diving company on my boat at LCBR was most excellent. Hi Craig! May have to chat with you about GC as I will be going there too this spring. Hotel is already chosen, the RC, but everything else will be ala carte.

Where to go in the Caymans

I have stayed at LCBR twice and had a fine time, and would go back. But they are a bit militant about dive times, and for me, the food was just OK. Hospitality of the staff was generally terrific and the rooms were nice and fresh. But the main reason I am trying a different resort this time...

Grand Cayman Favorite Dive Sites, Restaurants, Things to Do

Yeah, I'm with you. I ALWAYS have my luggage rifled through and something go missing when I route through Miami. I was told at RDU that almost 40 percent of bags coming through there have some sort of claim. You would think they could monitor baggage handling a bit better than that. Good...

Oh Gosh, you didn't offend. But as a woman living alone, with a history of someone coming to my home uninvited before, I just don't post specific dates of travel, even on closed or opt in forums. Thanks for this suggestion of Sunset House. What is daunting about boat dives there? Long...

I appreciate all of your replies very much and hope there will be even more. I should have clarified. I will only dive a couple of days since my friend does not dive and the op is already selected. Plus, we will be busy some days burning up the spa at the Ritz. I already have my dive op...

Grand Cayman Favorite Dive Sites, Restaurants, Things to Do

Hello all, I have recently learned that I will be spending a week in Grand Cayman on someone else's budget. I have never spent any time there and hope that some of you have and can give me some good advice. Lodgings are already set. We are staying on 7 mile beach. Favorite Dive Sites-I may...
