    Servicing your own regulators

Couv, Thank you for this. Most of all, my sanity has been restored. I won't go into the specifics, but after dealing with LeisurePro (now Scuba.com) and Sherwood and my LDS...well...let's just say that it shouldn't be that difficult for a factory-trained reg. tech to get a couple of LP seats...

    Servicing your own regulators

Anyone have a source for LP seats in Sherwood Blizzard Pro and Sherwood Octo? I have a Sherwood Service Tech certificate but no longer work for an LDS. These are my personal reg's and I'd be happy to buy a half dozen if I could find them.

Standards - can I use a drysuit without a certification

Wow...a 20 year old thread that's still going. Must be important! I thought the course was going to be a waste of time and money. I was wrong. Some people use the suit for buoyancy control, others put in just enough air to counter the suit squeeze. Some use the exhaust valve to regulate the...

    First Dive Computer

Ask 100 divers and get 100 different answers on this one.... My only comment was the issue of monitoring your daughter's air...simply ask her (via hand signals) and she should know the answer without looking. Do it often...force her into a good habit.

Am I being a wimp about these dive plans, or is this how you become a better diver?

First, to the OP...thank you for the post. It's a great topic and it appears that there is a general agreement on the answer (that's a rarity, right?) Next, as I agree with everyone else, I won't waste time chiming in but offer only a brief observation which will be valid AFTER you increase...

    NorCal Freshwater Dive Sites

I did Ice House last year. Easy entry right off the boat ramp. Visibility was fine (20-25ft) but the dive was rather "featureless". Loon lake looked more promising and I don't understand why I didn't dive there...bad choice on my part? I think there are 2 "Union" reservoirs. I did some...

    NorCal Freshwater Dive Sites

Thrutch, this is a great website! Thanks for the effort. I've heard about Convict Lake, sounds interesting. That opens up a few more on the Hwy 395 side, Twins Lakes, June Lake etc.

    NorCal Freshwater Dive Sites

I was set to dive Alpine last year and cut my hand the day before (just 4 stitches) so I passed. Very easy shore entry and it looked both cold and clear. Altitude is 7300+. I've just purchased one of those camper shells with the wedge tent on top and I have a gas-powered Coltri compressor...

    NorCal Freshwater Dive Sites

My summer plan is to do some freshwater diving in the California Sierra mountains and I'd like a few suggestions. I've done more than a dozen dives in Tahoe and a few in some surrounding lakes. There have been a lot of positive comments about Whiskeytown Lake near Shasta as well. Decent...

    Best dive sites Bonaire

Hilma Hooker, Karpata and Salt pier have my votes. Carl's Hill on Klein for a decent little wall dive.

Cayman possible border reopening without quarantine by April or May!

If you're worried about the U.S. re-entry requirement....just go thru Mexico. That border is WIDE open! (sorry, I just had to vent)

    2019 Sherwood Blizzard Pro, opinions?

I'm into cold water diving here in Monterey, CA and Lake Tahoe. I've got one and used it exclusively for a few years. (It's the one stuck in my mouth in my avatar photo). Never had a problem with it. I did some research on cold water regs...it ranked in the top 5.

Worth still doing Peak Performance Buoyancy after AOW?

After 6 pages of replies...I think the #2 post is the one with the best angle on it. "Bob DBF" is spot on (my opinion, of course)

    Shark Feeding Dives...Yes or No

Good point. I would think the "Don't feed the Bears" signs that we see were put there for a reason...who knows if it transfers to other species. I liked Rob9876's statement about diving to see the natural world...I'm right there with you.

    Shark Feeding Dives...Yes or No

I just read an article in DAN's AlertDiver magazine regarding a shark feeding dive incident. That caused me to watch a few videos and read another few articles about these dives and dive operators. There were varying opinions from "it helps raise awareness" to "it's OK if done safely" to "it's...

Current options for moderate duty scuba compressor?

https://sensorcon-sensing-products-by-molex.myshopify.com/collections/carbon-monoxide-meters There's the link to their product page...(I guess I should have posted that in the first place). I'm fairly sure that the calibration has a MAX of 2 years but they say 6 months for some technical use...
