Incident at Dutch Springs 21 May

A 6 cuft cylinder is good for inflating your drysuit with Argon. Getting you out of an OOA situation...why skimp on the volume? Diving with a 30 cuft pony, backmounted with a bottle buddy (I suggest the Bottle Buddy 3) is not really all the cumbersome. You can even sling it and it is usually...

    Great Wreck Diving?

North Carolina. Diving out of Morehead City with either Olympus Dive Center or Discovery Diving. Both are top shelf operations. The wrecks are amazing, the viz is great, there are TONS of fish and sharks....there's a risk you'll get blown out and the boat rides are a little long, but if you...

    Canon DSLR Recommendation

I've been happily taking photos with my Canon Powershot A640 for quite some time. While I do love this camera, it doesn't offer me the complete control I'm looking for. Some features I'm looking for... TTL support for my Ikelite strobes Manual shutter control...I'd like to photograph...

    Worthington hydro

Of the three LP 95 Steel Worthington that were sent out all three failed hydro... My dive shop contacted Worthington/XS and long story short they are replacing the tanks free of charge, all I have to pay is shipping. The Hydro facility was contacted by Worthington/XS and was found to be...

    Worthington hydro

I just had 3 of my 4 worthington LP 95s go in for Hydro and the shop told me they all failed. After a few well placed cuss words I was told the hydro tester probably didn't adhere to this protocol. I would just double check with whomever is doing your hydro before you send your worthington's in.

Feb/Mar 2011 - Palau or Cocos Island, your opinions???

I went to Cocos back in 2008, and I have to agree with what's been stated before...it's either holy cow in your face or so-so. When we went it was October 2008, as diving during the rainy season is the best time. The visibility was 60ft on average, which is fine by me (i'm used to 5-8 in NJ)...

Replacement Strap for a Citizen Aqualand

I just purchased a Citizen Aqualand watch, I had the titanium band version a number of years ago, but it was unfortunately stolen. I needed a backup depth gauge/timer anyway, and this watch also looks pretty great on my wrist, so I pulled the trigger on the two tone version. Slight problem...

Paddle Wheeler on North side of Island?

In Michael Crichton's Travels he talks about diving a paddle wheeler on the north end of Bonaire. Anyone ever been there? Know what wreck it is?

    Doubles etc.

To be honest I wasn't terribly wild about the tank switching in between dives. I like the plan, especially that it allows the equipment to grow with me as I move forward. I'm wondering, how cumbersome would the 95 be in comparison to the AL 80? It would be no problem to sell the other two...

    Doubles etc.

My reason for independents vs. manifolded doubles.... With the independent doubles I'd be able to get maximum gas volume out of 4 tanks to do 3 dives in relatively shallow (<100fsw) to get as close to my NDLs as possible. I refer to my gas management post a few pages ago for extended...

    Doubles etc.

Can you clarify on this a bit? Are you suggesting independent doubles, but utilizing 5 tanks?

    Doubles etc.

Absolutely, I'm sure he was. That's also why I'd sling the 30, just in case a situation like that arose.

    Ok....but I don't get it

    Doubles etc.

Very good point. When I, and those others on the boat dive, we are independent of each other. We do not operate in buddy teams and try to stay out of each other's way. I realize that last statement has probably got some baffled, maybe even outraged. Let's save that discussion for another...
