    Suunto D6i $420 OBO

Where did you get the watch originally and do you have any proof of purchase? Reason I ask is I've had two suunto computers fail due to a pressure sensor malfunction. Nice thing is suunto covers them for 5 years but you need original proof of purchase.

    Great Barrier Reef Liveaboards

I'm in the early stages of planning a trip (my first) to Australia in 2016. I've got 2-3 weeks and want to (of course) dive the Great Barrier Reef. Anyone have any suggestions for Liveaboards? Something in the 7-10 day trip range would be ideal. The operator also needs to have full support for...

First run with the Nikon D7000 in Ikelite Housing - Review

For the price you can't go wrong...I don't know what kind of strobes you have, but the money you'd drop on a 3k+ Aluminum is better spent on lighting IMO.

First run with the Nikon D7000 in Ikelite Housing - Review

The half shutter touchiness takes some getting used to. I had to send my housing in to ikelite to get the controls bent into proper position because the front controls weren't working properly. After a few dives I am able to get a half press but do occasionally fire two shots in rapid...

First run with the Nikon D7000 in Ikelite Housing - Review

I recently upgraded my U/W Camera system from a Canon A640 point & shoot to a Nikon D7000. I kept my DS 125 substrobe from the Canon setup, picked up another one and went with the Ikelite housing. I spent a week in Bonaire test driving the rig and overall am very satisfied. The rig is...

    Traveling with DSLR Ports

I have 2 Ikelite DSLR ports that I'm traveling with for the first time. These things are massive. They are too big to take on the plane with the rest of the camera gear so they have to go in checked baggage. They have a nice neoprene cap on the lens side, but the port side is left exposed...

    Visiting LA

I'll be visiting LA for a conference June 11 - 13. I was hoping to be able to squeeze some diving in that week, either before or after the conference. I'm staying at a Hilton in Montebello until the 13th then have the potential to stay somewhere else. Any suggestions for diving outlets in the...

Canon A640 w/ Ikelite Housing Setup - Great Beginner Setup at LOW LOW Cost

I am selling my underwater camera kit, this kit takes great photos (as you can see in the examples) and is EXCELLENT for a beginning diver getting into underwater photography. This kit is in perfect working condition and the only reason I'm selling it is because I've upgraded to a DSLR...

    Sola 500 v Sola 800 as a focusing light

Does anyone have any experience with the Sola 500 v Sola 800 as a focusing light? I'm trying to figure out whether the extra cost of the 800 is worth it or warranted. I'm shooting a D7000 in Caribbean waters w/ dual Ikelite DS125 substrobes.

105mm Macro f2.8 VR & 60mm in same ikelite port?

Anyone had any experience using a Nikkor 105mm Macro f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR & 60mm Macro f/2.8 ED AF-S with the same ikelite port? If I can I'd like to be able to use both of these lenses without having two separate ports. Any thoughts?

Diving the Spiegel Grove & Onward to Key West

Looking at taking a Road Trip down FL way between 12/26 and 1/7 and am looking for some advice. I'd definitely like to do a few dives on the Spiegel Grove, what kind of conditions can I expect this time of year? Any boat recommendations? Are there any tech shops? Any recommendations on where...

New to Area, Need Diving Suggestions

I recently moved to Northern Virgnia from New Jersey where I was .5 miles from the Ocean...here, not so much. Sooo I need some suggestions on where to dive, and who to dive with. I prefer ocean dives and realize I'm a ways from the Ocean (I live near Fairfax, VA) but imagine there has to be...

    Dry suit fin recommendation

Anything but a split fin. I have cressi rondine, lots of power and no fancy straps or gimmicks to replace. I also suggest spring straps...makes life so much easier.

How deep have you gone on air?

A bounce dive (<5 minutes bottom time) to 205 in Bonaire to prepare for a dive on the Windjammer later in the week. Narcosis was evident at 180', pronounced at 205. I was aware I was narced, but maintained focus and completed the dive. Would I dive air that deep for any substantial amount of...

    Great Wreck Diving?

The area around Morehead City and Beaufort are pretty good. There's a few restaraunts, the Beaufort Butcher (I think its called), Roland's BBQ, and some other great eateries. There's also the Aquarium at Pine Knolls Shore which is worth a visit. There's the area around the waterfront that has...

Why we dive with a Pony

I started diving in New Jersey in 2005. Since then I've expanded my diving career to include various global destinations such as the ripping currents of Cocos Island, picturesque reefs in Bonaire, turn of the century shipwrecks in the St. Lawrence, and the victims of WWII in North Carolina...
