Mid next week I am going to give it a try for 4 days and see is the battery remains at 100%. I am still trying to find the AI signal, so I still need to play with it.
When you say 100% after one week what state do you have it in, Is that with AI and Compass off? I would like to compare mine with yours. I know room temperature is going to play into this but they should still be close.
I don't see anybody cracking the seal on a $350 life support system that is designed to take huge amounts of water pressure just to satisfy our curiosity. Knowing the chip set info does not mean you have any info on how the data produced is sent. You would need a schematic for the RF circuitry...
According to Shearwater once the AI is turned on it will still be looking for the transmitter even in Watch mode, it's just that you don't see the flashing red on the screen.
Based on what I have read about the system the Transmitter sends a signal every 10 seconds or at some specific time...
Nah I think you got that wrong, read it again.
When a paired transmitter is not
communicating, the Teric goes into a higher power
scan state.
It does say paired.
My take on that is that if it does not find the AI signal it keeps listening continuously. Once the signal is found it goes into...
How so? I have had friends and coworkers that have lost iPhones and in some cases the people who had them finally used the telephone number under the phones protective case and called them saying they had found the phone and asked what kind of reward was being offered for the phone. If those...
They can unlock it by using a master password that is generated using your serial number.
Once they can verify the DC is yours then they can take your serial number and run it through software that will generate a master password that will only work on your device.
The second option is sending...
It's not written in stone but re page 72.
Set AI Mode to OFF when AI not in use
Leaving AI enabled when not in use will negatively
impact battery life. When a paired transmitter is not
communicating, the Teric goes into a higher power
scan state. This increases power consumption to about
25%...
That's a bad practice anyway. I just cannot see myself diving into the water without checking the gas pressure first even if i have looked at the SPG. Secondly, are you sure about that? You said "may not".
Since the topic came up in another thread about the AI and Compass mode being left on while in watch mode I though I would bring up the only other software complaint I have with this fantastic Dive computer just in case they decide to do an update.
On the Teric you get a screen flashing up in...
Yes but it really does not solve the problem because once you finish the dive it is highly unlikely that you will remember to turn them back off. Assuming there is no technical reason why they leave it on while in Watch mode it countradicts one of Shearwater's three main motto's which is "Simple".
I actually don't understand the logic behind it. I hear what your saying about going diving and forgetting to turn on the AI but since the Teric has a Watch Mode and a Dive Mode why do they keep the AI running when your in watch mode? Seems simple enough to me to just keep the Menu Option as...
Yes I mean it does kind of ridiculous to have an OFF feature in the menu that does the same thing as the Light button. I would hope there is more to it than just that.
I assume you know this to be true so I am kind of wondering why Shearwater did not design the Teric so it knew what the State of the AI and compass before powering off and then stored that it memory and then shut them down during the power off. When the unit is turned back on it should return...
I am not doing that but I suspect that using the OFF command does all the things that @Dan mentioned. It would be nice if Shearwater commented.
If this DC can go for 6 months in hibernation it must mean that the battery only drops about 4% per week in this state.
Mine seems to loose about 10% of the battery life each week when in standby mode with the display off. When some of you guys say the Teric is off do you mean just the display or do you mean going into the menu and using the off command?
