NITROX for any and all dives?

I think the point being made is that NO2 absorption is not the limiting factor in many dives, it's gas remaining in the tank.

If it was me I'd to the Vberg and the other decent wreck in the area, then hop in the car and drive the 2 hours to the upper Keys and do the wrecks there.

Looking for Dive Charter in Ft. Lauderdale

What turned you off about the website? Just curious doesn't seem much different than any other scuba dive op's website. It was the air temps that were the issue for us last week, not the water. Somewhat chilly to say the least, but again the boat offers good protection.

Looking for Dive Charter in Ft. Lauderdale

As I said, I dived with them last week. Captain Bill is a nice guy with a great attitude, even laughed at my jokes. Already told you about the boat and the dives, and to expand on it, it's rather chilly in Florida, or at least it was last week, and this boat has it's main deck area enclosed by...

Looking for Dive Charter in Ft. Lauderdale

We dived with Daptain Bill and Sea Experience out of Fort Lauderdale last week, we did a wreck + drift on a reef. Didn't find the reef to be all that great but the wreck was a good dive. They have a large flat boat with protection from the elements, it's a very comfortable boat to dive from.

    Key West dive shop

I had a very bad experience with Lost Reef Adventures which I have posted about elsewhere on this board. I do NOT recommend them. I had a good experience with South Point divers although the Vandenberg was barely visible through all the silt and severely reduced visibility due to recent...

    Florida-Jupiter/Palm Beach & Blue Heron Bridge-Sept. 1-9, 2018

H Ken I spoke to you earlier. Still waiting to her from the LDS about training one of our group for AOW on the first 2 days. Not sure we can do it anyway due to conflict with the start of high school unless we can knock a few days off. By the way this thread is incorrectly posted in the...

    Miami Diving worth it?

I've dived from Key West through West Palm Beach, including Fort Lauderdale and Lantana, and up to Orlando (if you count diving in the aquarium at Epcot. It's worth a 1 hr+ drive south to Key Largo or 1 hr+ north to West Palm to do the wrecks. I've never dived Miami because I haven't read...

West Palm Governors Riverwalk Wreck Identification Requested!!!

@sheeper thanks I already have that map, and you're right. From what I've read those wrecks are tossed all over the place and I think I counted the bow and stern of the Thozina as 2 separate wrecks because they're so far apart.

West Palm Governors Riverwalk Wreck Identification Requested!!!

I hope that a fellow diver who is familiar with the wrecks in West Palm beach can assist me with identifying the wrecks in the enclosed video of Governors Riverwalk, taken last week during our dive with Florida Scuba Charters. Dustin told us during the briefing that there were 3 wrecks, Shasha...

    Belize Livaboard Aggressor 1V Questions

Thanks for all the great responses. In summary: - Don't bother with courses, not enough down time and it's not like they're any better than anywhere else - Bring my spare 1st & 2nd stage regulator and maybe a hose or 2 - Don't bring my tool box - Hard luggage that doesn't fit under the bed can...

    Belize Livaboard Aggressor 1V Questions

Ok I understand that the courses probably aren't worth it and there's not really much downtime, got it. As far as regulator rental, we use AI wrist computers that require 2 HP ports on the regulator, we'd rather not use rental gear especially if we can't swap out first stages so I'll bring an...

    Belize Livaboard Aggressor 1V Questions

I did a group trip to Coz back in 2005 with a local dive shop and lots of courses were offered. Several divers did the photography course and they set up shop in a hotel room with computers and software and they'd go over the pictures and the software and all that, seemed to me like it was a...

    Belize Livaboard Aggressor 1V Questions

Thank you in advance for the helpful divers on this forum. We are diving aboard the Belize Aggressor IV in May 2018 and I have a few questions as I prepare for this trip. We're diving with a group of people we've never met but they sound like great guys and gals. I don't want to keep bugging...

Dive OPs who enforce 24 hour cancelation policy but can cancel last minute??

We are finishing up our Florida Keys and Palm Beach diving trip. Didn't dive Boynton because no Dive Ops in the area were able to provide wreck dives the day we were in the area including the one we signed up with originally due to lack of diver interest. There are some good guys out there...

Note to self--change computer battery compartment o-ring more frequently than never..

I'd think the voltage is the reason for the dim display. If you had a malfunction due to the flooding it would most likely be blank or the display would look jumbled. Sounds like only a bit of water got in there, not enough to short everything out.

    best key largo dive boats.

Rainbow Reef is a large operation with multiple boats and as far as I know they are the only upper Keys Op who does not charge extra for a DM. Service is great, it's a smooth well run operation. I have also dived with Ocean Divers and Conch Republic Divers. Those are my top 3 but they aren't...

Yes definitely do the isopropyl alcohol thing too, I forgot about that. It has a drying effect and will pull moisture out. You can put a small amount in the cap of the bottle, pour it into the compartment and swish it around, then pour out the excess and let the rest air dry.

Note to self--change computer battery compartment o-ring more frequently than never..

You don't have to wait that long. Most dive computers use a 3V lithium battery such as the CR2450. If your computer does, you can test it with virtually any 3V lithium battery, readily available at Home Depot or any hardware store. The only difference between them is the diameter and the...
