IMO as a new sidemount diver especially if your usuing it just to rec dive The SMS 100 is an excelent system to use especially in a drysuit. Its not as streamline as the Razor and some others but its an excelent and adaptable system!
I learned Sidemount first in fact ive only had doubles on my back for about 10 minutes in the pool. The reasons I went with sidemount 1. Sidemount is easier to deal with in a drysuit. All your valves are right in front of you and all your hoses are in plain view. 2. I'm taking my padi tec 40...
Nope 37$ is cost dive shop doesnt get anything out of that especially if your replacing online! And Im in the dive shop looking at the PADI price book as I type that!! Also PADI uses the money off there cards to run the Dive Check on there website. So if you dont have a card the LDS can look...
When Im grading Divemasters the only skills i require talking for is Gear set up, Buddy Check and bouncey check. Then when they take there dsd leader I require talking/explaining for Reg recover, mask clear and alternate air source. I also know that as a store we're a bit harder on DM...
Its either or masterblaster. U can replace your card or for your next level of certification! as far as the PADI website sucking I know when they switched over to the newsite they have been having some bugs but depending on what the problem is the girls on the phone are really healpfull!
My comment is that the PADI Equipment courses isnt designed to teach you how to service a regulator. Its just to give you anough info to understand how the equipment works and how to deal with other problems that might arise. It also is geared towards matience and understanding other styles of...

Im a strong believe of to each there own. Our store can let a new diver try approx(and this is as im counting off the top of my head but i can count when i get there tomorrow) 14 different styles of BCD (Including 2 brands of BPW, 4 styles of Jacket including women only, Back inflate rec...
this is turning into a whole nother debate. I personally find my bcd pockets more comfertable then then shoving stuff into my drysuit thigh pockets i cant imagine how uncomfertable that would be in a wetsuit pocket! Also for the record our shop carries 3 brands of BPWs and have them all in one...
Not to sound like a smart ass but 1. We're not all as bad ass as you lol some people, as hard as this may be to believe, Like regualr recreational BCDs with all that fancey padding, weight pockets and gear pockets 2. Were talking about new divers, divers that are just trying out new gear or...
i like the idea of a removable dive copu so when im sitting at my desk top logging dives i dont need my full set of regs. also with the quick disconnect it makes it easier to walk away so if im leaving my gear out in a "safe" place but that im going to be in the area but not watching it i can...
What i recomond you do is locate a dive store that does a try before you buy night! Every Wednesday night we do pool drop in's so you can try every style we sell. There is a ton to consider when buying a BCD.
What we do at our dive shop is have play in the pool wednesday nights so every wednesday you can come try any piece of gear we sell from regs, to bcds, to sidemount gear, to full faced masks to all our different types of fins!!
What hes saying is the dive computer is removable with a quick release. So if you quick release your cpu and leave it at the hotel your left with an empty hose, no depth guage or air guage!
