Does the DPV/Scooter specialty make sense?

It is a very fun class to do. Like with everything it will depend on the instructor, but if you have a good class you learn a lot. towing someone or getting towed does feel weird, I wasn’t used to put my hands in another guy’s crotch.

Halcyon Focus 2.0 vs Focus 1.0

Where I live it’s around €300, I just got the flare because most people around me did dive with it.

Halcyon Focus 2.0 vs Focus 1.0

If you want to save some money, the Flare works nice aswell. The only thing you can’t do is switch to video mode and light up the cave:p

Does everyone really need the LP BCD inflator?

Many are teached to lay down on the victim, deflate their own wing and go up horizontally while using the victims wing. This wil be hard without inflator. For the dives I do I need one so I never did think about diving without one. Why would you dive without it?

First dive at 40 meters - Newbies recreational

It wouldn’t be a stop at 12, no matter what algorithm the computer uses. If you have 1 at 12 you will have 9 6 and 3 aswell and you will have like atleast 15 minutes of deco in total.

First dive at 40 meters - Newbies recreational

If you calculate the panic that at least one of you 2 would have after a gas loss, the time to solve that at 40m and the harder ascent while gas sharing as you are fairly new divers you wouldn’t have plenty of time. You would for sure be in deco after that aswell since you lose easily around 2...

First dive at 40 meters - Newbies recreational

You started ascending with 150bar and you did came out with 40bar, so you used 110bar on the way up? If your wife had a failure the surface would have been far away...

But can you do it with split fins?

    Wanna stay down longgerrr

You may not be new to diving but the questions you ask and the stuff you are saying makes it clear you aren’t ready to do deco dives on your own. Start by taking a class so you know what CNS is. If you understand the basic stuff you will be able to plan your own dives without relying on some...

Oops, left my computer at home

Not sure what dives you do but a entry computer is very cheap. After the trip you can use it as bottom timer or backup computer.

    Andrea Doria Discussion

Then again, would we want to live longer without goals and dreams in our lives? Not saying you have to do stuff without thinking. You should prepare in the best way you can before you do something that can be dangerous, but not doing anything at all is always a lot safer then to do even a...

Math is Scary - Drowning is (probably) Scarier

Almost everyone I dive with uses something like this. If you check your gauge and it’s not what you expected to see you know something is off.

    Taming the long hose

I might be overlooking something but does the shorter hose work for the OOA diver? The OOA diver has to be in front, so it has to pass his body while following line, go true restrictions or while towing you behind a scooter. The 5ft wil be hard that way, in open water it’s more then ok ofcourse.

Deco showing in Shearwater Cloud graph at end of NDL dives

I don’t have a safety stop on my Perdix and I also get the red line, during deco dives and during ndl dives. It’s the GF% at that point I think.

I did order the JJ last week. I hope I can start the training by the end of the year.

Do you pee less with drysuits than with wetsuits?

I never did pee in a wetsuit but I’ve had a few very uncomfortable dives where I did have the feeling I had to pee and had to hold it for like half an hour or more. In do 90% of my dives dry, use a catheter if it gets longer then 90 minutes but rarely have to use it. Diving dry it’s less for sure

    Revo vs JJ

Ty all for the advice! I can do training on both units, rented units, but it wil get realy expensive. The only JJ instructor around is also a Revo instructor I will visit him next week and ask for his opinion. After that I’ll make a decision and if in the future I regret it I can still sell it...

    Revo vs JJ

Yes another one :D I’m from Belgium, Revo’s grow on trees over here. Some of my buddies dive a Revo others a JJ, all of them find their unit the best one. Doing try dives might be fun and useful if you have a clue what you have to watch out for. I have no clue :p Cave is the highest priority...

Struggling to Find Kidney Dump Valve

With the normal string and dry gloves it didn’t feel right. Removing the plastic end thingie and then put little knots in the string did wonders. The string gets shorter and stiffer that way. I have like a knot every centimeter.
