    Suunto D9 Dive watch

I'm curious about who will buy this also. It is supposed to be able to monitor three tanks via wireless with different nitrox FO2s on each tank. It's good to 660ft, but it seems to be only useful for computing to about 130ft. So we're talking tech divers with lots of money that trust...

Scubapro AirII + another brand's BC?

I asked them that already. Here was the answer. If you change the corrugated hose, you also need the longer cable which has to be crimped into the RE valve at the factory. For this reason you have to get the whole RE and Corrugated hose assembly. Your Zeagle Dealer would order the 23"...

    Airline Thieves!

I think you are FOS. Take a look on some knife collecting forums. The propensity for TSA to steal nice expensive cutlery out of checked luggage is very well documented. My brother's mammoth tusk handle pocket knife was lifted earlier this year from within a shaving kit in checked baggage which...

    Thanks, now I get it.

    Alternate Air Inflator & DIR

I'm not familiar with doubles, so let me ask one more question. There are three connections to the post, 1) the tank 2) the regulator 1st stage 3) the isolator Is the valve between the regulator and isolator meaning if the left valve is off the left 1st stage is off? or Is the...

    Alternate Air Inflator & DIR

Would the isolator usually be open or closed? The valve would just turns off the left tank right, Not the 1st stage mounted on the left post?

    Alternate Air Inflator & DIR

OK, the explanation about the left and right valves seems reasonable, yet rather improbable. Wouldn't you have to very carefully roll the valve handle along an overhead surface like a kid pushing a toy car? A valve handle has a diameter of about 1.5in, so the circumference is about 4.7in...

    Airline Thieves!

In the states, we will usually ship our gear Airborne Express ground a few days in advance. Since my wife and my stuff total about 60 lbs, it makes it a lot easier travelling without it. We also insure the whole box for about $3000 which is a lot better than the compensation offered by the airlines.

    AtomicTi2 Titanium Question

Sounds like you're on your way to reinventing the OBA. The Oxygen Breathing Apparatus uses a chemical reaction in a cylinder to generate oxygen. It's used for firefighting in the Navy. I don't know if you should use one underwater.

    Warm Water Diving

I've gots dive boots and shoes (Deep See Aqua Purge). Use the same fins with either. Just make sure the fin doesn't ride up above shoe. The shoe makes for a less weird suntan when you wear it on the boat all day and seems to drain better.

A true story for those with teenagers!

Why are you in such a "not a moment to spare" hurry when you're supposed to be on vacation relaxing? Hell, I'm 43 and don't enjoy getting up early, especially on vacation. But so far, we've mostly dived off the father-in-law's boat, so we can get up and go when and where we want.

    Cirque du Soleil & Rebreathers?

The curtain tricked impressed the hell out of me. When they flew it out, I was thinking to myself, hmmm.... that's got to be a pain to rehang after every show. I never noticed the divers, but it makes sense.

    Best Dive Boat

My father-in-law just ordered an Island Hopper for diving the Keys. I can hardly wait.

Proxomitron will cure all your woes. No ads, no cheezy music, no chasey, blinky, pop ups or banners. Best thing since sliced cheese. Here's a sample from a pretty trashy page.

Hawaii’s Dive Flag Law - Is it a recipe for disaster?

In the Keys, every boat with divers or snorklers flew a flags and I never saw one that didn't while people were in the water. Wife's dad says the CG are pretty strict about it and give out tickets. Maybe Hawaii needs better enforcement?

Hawaii’s Dive Flag Law - Is it a recipe for disaster?

I don't think a boat or diver should be able to hog a nice spot or reef just by flying a dive flag. As long as another boat has the intention of diving the same spot they should be allowed to approach at no wake and with due caution. I personally don't think boats (or kayaks) should be abandoned...

Are Force Fins really that bad?

Can someone describe the difference between flutter kick and freestyle kick. I have always tried to kick keeping my knees stiff and using mostly thighs which I understand to be flutter kick (scissor like) BTW, I suck at freestyle swimming even using SlimFins which are a ForceFin designed for...

    Zeagle Ranger LTD Zipper Thing?

No velcro. I'm making a zipper that will be compatible with the existing accessories. It will hook into the webbing where the tank bands and bladder attach. We're building it Monday night, so I'll post pics some time next week.

    Tool Questions

I've got my spouse brainwashed. The logic goes something like this: Look, it costs $200 to get this fixed, but it only cost $100 for the tool to fix it ourselves. And we can fix it again the next time it breaks for free. Gets her every time.

Local dive shop in Venice CA, refuses to fill tanks

So does the manufacturer really have our safety in mind or are they interested in selling multiple tanks and regulators. Since NOAA seems to think that up to 40% O2 can be freely mixed with "clean" air, I don't have much faith that the manufactures fine print is based on science, but that it is...
