    SB'ers in Cozumel for April

I'll be down with my wife and in-laws for a short trip April 1-5. Staying at fiesta americana (so cheap!) and diving with blue xt~sea (I hope - I just e-mailed christi tonight).

    Nikon D90 with Tokina 10-17mm

I'm actually pretty impressed with the video after all the bad things I've read about it. Seems like it'd be pretty useful with the right lighting and so long as you're able to keep the subject in focus.

    D90 v D700

Thanks for all the helpful advice! Just put in my order for the D90, the 18-200 and the 60mm AFD and a Tokina 10-17mm. Just need to find a housing now..

    Kauai diving

I'll throw in another recommendation for diving with Bubbles Below and diving wherever they take you. If the water's calm and you have the time go to niihau. Otherwise, the sites near where they launch are all fine. As some other posters mentioned, you often get a little marine biology lesson...

    D90 v D700

D300... Great... Another option for me to think about. Why isn't the full frame sensor a benefit underwater? I've seen that in a couple threads but don't understand why.

    D90 v D700

My old Oly 8080 died on me and I'm looking to upgrade. Any thoughts on whether the D700 is worth the extra money? How big are the advantages of full frame sensor over APS-C? I figured there'd be a thread or two on this already, but couldn't find one (though I'm admittedly crappy at searching...

    Bonaire Town Pier?

Another vote for not missing this dive. For night diving, I liked the salt pier almost as much, if not more. I also really enjoyed diving town pier during the day. We've gone twice with Dee Scarr and would definitely do it again. She knows exactly where every little critter in the area...

    Shark Attack at Bellows

Crazy! My wife was snorkeling off Lanikai just a few hours before this happened. No sign of the tiger when they were there though. Doesn't look like this guy was spearfishing or otherwise doing something to provoke an attack. Wonder what the tiger was thinking?

    Great White Cage Diving

And it appears that nobody on this board has gone out with them. This question gets asked every 6 months or so and I always follow the topic with interest, but nobody has ever replied that they've been out on this trip. If anyone ever goes, be sure to let us know how it was!

    Cypress Sea - Feb 18th

    More like hanging on :D.

    Cypress Sea - Feb 18th

I was looking at the PIGEON POINT TO POINT PIEDRAS BLANCAS TO 20 NM forecast outside of the bay (where I'd hope to go if I sprung for a trip on the Cypress). Inside the bay sounds better, but I think I'll still take a pass.

    Cypress Sea - Feb 18th

Hmm... maybe soaking up calm, warm water in Bonaire all last week has caused me to go soft, but 20' combined seas and 40 knot winds are enough to cause me to find a land-based activity for Sunday. I hope the forecast settles down for you guys.

    Cypress Sea - Feb 18th

Hmm... I might be in too, though I'm not all that excited about heading out if the swells kick up to 13'. Going to keep an eye on the forecast for now. Did you sign up already, Andy?

    New to Bonaire questions

I was actually quite comfortable last time with just a dive skin and no thermal protection. The water was in the low 80s and the air was a touch on the humid side in the mid 80s. I tend to not get cold though. My wife, who freezes constantly, dove in a 3mil and a beanie and was quite...

    monterey lodging?

I second the recommendation for Lone Oak. Fairly cheap, fairly clean and well set up for diving. When I'm looking for a little more luxury, I'll put a bid in on priceline. I am often successful in getting a room at the Hyatt for $70/night, which can be cheaper than the Lone Oak. It's not as...

    Alcina Wins Gold!

Congratulations to both of you. The judges seem to have done a great job - all the winners are amazing photos.

    advice on 21watt HID

I also have a 21w Salvo and absolutely love it. It is without a doubt my favorite piece of gear and has greatly increased my enjoyment of diving. Your husband is a very lucky man to have you shopping for this for him. I had to use the old "It's just a flashlight, how much do you think it...

So i bought a drysuit, now what?

    1) As sort of mentioned above, use a toothbrush to remove any excess wax on the zipper. Otherwise, it will collect gunk. I lightly wax my zipper before and after every dive day (why does that sound dirty to me for some reason?). I use a big hanger that I bought from Scubatoys (I think) to...

    donald trump developement in Cozumel

Here's the (always amusing) babelfish translation of the linked article: Cozumel Invertira' Donald Trump 300 will nvertirá Donald Trump 300 mdd in Cozumel Millenium Tuesday 23 of January of the 2007, City of Mexico, D. F. - The real estate tycoon Donald Trump goes now by a "small kingdom"...

    Blurry Parts in Photos

Thanks guys - this is great advice. Wish I had time to go for a weekday dive before my trip! P.S. For anyone following along and learning with me, I just read through this link in Alcina's signature and found a ton more good stuff.
