    Gratuities

Last weekend I took a couple of not very experienced divers that were not very together, ie; left masks at the hotel, had regulator issues, and bad buoyancy(weighting issues). I always carry a couple of extra masks and a spare reg. setup among other things. We went to a depth of 43' for various...

    Energy drinks before diving ???

As far as Gatoraid and other sports drinks go,(in excess) I've read that they give a false hydration to the body. As far as the energy drinks go, I've not read anything in regards too them being harmful too a diver. Yes, caffiene is not a divers best friend, but hey, who doesn't enjoy a quick...

Need Help:Strangest Question Ever From A Student

Seems as if a cup would only make the problem worse if the suit rides up in that area. Acustom suit would seem to be the fix, maybe a drysuit, where the diver could eliminate the squeezee as it happens. The cold water trick could be an answer, usually tucks the boys right in place. Good luck...

    Here we go ...

Way cool, the dive industry needs more cheap labor.:rofl3: But really, great choice, you won't be disappointed in your endeavors. Like others have said, study hard and the rest will fall in place.

How much have you spent on scuba gear?

With the compressor and all the maintenance equipment for servicing my gear, all my tec, rec, and wifes gear, Sons to start, were looking at 80k. And I've only been certified since 3/05. Worse than any drug habbit, but what a rush!!! Gotta love it!!

    Question on SDI Leadership Manual

I'm also glad I was doing the imperial version. It semed well enough that I got a 100% on the test. Well, actually my instructor, who happens too be a police sar diver told us when I took my rescue class that you were not too stop for breaths in the water. You are too get the victim to shore as...

What size cylinders are in use for argon/air drysuit inflation?

An lp 14 would be my choice, especially if you are going to fill it yourself. the advantage of lp is that you can get a few more fills without boosting. On my rec rig I use a "Quick draw bracket" that attaches to the BC strap. On my twins I use a "pony tamer" system. on both I set the bottle...

    opinions on SDI-TDI Tech Courses

I started my tec side on the IANTD curriculum and it was so jumbled and the test was so poorly written that my instructor had a hard time with it. He has since gone to the TDI/SDI curriculum and is very happy with it. I'm headed up for my normoxic training cert. next week, so I'll chime back in...

    DM Expectations...

I just finished my DM course, and all I had too pay for was my books and registration fees. The instructor that accepted me for the candidacy had me interview with his present DM's that were working on their instructor status. After talking with his DM's and feeling comfortable with the...

    Your max depth!

158' too date, but I'm headed this next week to Hoods Port, Wash. for my normoxic trimix course and will be headed to 200'. I only have my rec. trimix cert. as of today. I'll dive for awhile at this classification before going on to my hypoxic trimix realm. At that time, who knows, we'll see how...

    Who dives with a snorkel?

I only have a snorkle when working with students, it's required to have a snorkle and seems a little hypocritical too require a student to wear one when you aren't wearing one yourself. I believe that for TDI/SDI standards you only have too have a snorkle with you, not have it attached to your...

    Tdi/sdi Dm

I've heard of the and have done, the second set of skills you noted. I also thought it was a peice of cake in the order you described, but I've not heard of the first set of skills you presented. Which agency requires the set of skills?

    Tdi/sdi Dm

Well, it's official, I've made it as a DM for TDI/SDI. The swims were a ****** but the written was a peice of cake!! Even though I loaded up on gatorade and bananas I still cramped up. Good thing I hade a pretty good pace until then, finning with one fin was not getting much progress. Like...
