Floaty feet. Dry suit boot inversion.

Is it cheating if I have exhaust valves in my boots? I have an Apollo drysuit so I avoided the floaty feet issue. I now have the DUI TLS 350 SEAL and a Whites Fusion Bullet. I'm wearing neoprene socks outside my drysuit socks and wearing one size larger booties. It squeezes the foot well enough...

    DUI dry suits price differences

Buy what you can afford, but don't go too cheap. After some years, you'll upgrade. I started with the Apollo Bio crushed neoprene - it's over 15 years old. I now own the DUI TLS 350 SEAL, military grade suit and the Whites Fusion Bullet. I bought my DUI on eBay, local seller to me, <$1000. Very...

Mini Scuba Cylinder for practice in SoCal?

I have one of those SMACO tanks (I bought it for the pump to charge my paintball tank). Don't waste your money on it to dive, it's not safe if you're not trained. The dive shop where you do your training should have a pool and instructors to let you bone up on basic drills in the pool with...

    Glue/Adhesives for drysuits

You folks are soo bad! I found some 620 from Grainger at a cheaper price ($12.55/pint). I'll put in an order for a can. We can't get toulene solvent in California, we're stuck with a substitute called "Painter's Solvent." It's suppose to be safer.

    Glue/Adhesives for drysuits

I also just picked up an old drysuit with SiTech Necktite and Permanent Cuff rings. I'm yanking those off and reusing them. The glue they use is tough to get off. I'm using a heat gun and slowly pick it off. Is there any damage to the Cuffs if I soak it in Acetone? Edit: I just did a...

how many pairs of fins do you own?

Orange Showa gloves would be great to attract the Garibaldis in Catalina. My FF's are Blue, Red, and Black; Avanti Quattro are Yellow. I saw that the OMS Slipstreams come in Orange. I might have to sell my blacks one.

how many pairs of fins do you own?

They're pretty good. I used them for my dives in Roatan, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Cabo San Lucas. Very lightweight. Short enough to stow in my luggage. Not as powerful as my Force Fins. When I travel, I bring my FF Adjustable bc they're compact. If you're used to wearing the Avanti Quattros...

    Glue/Adhesives for drysuits

I've got a mix of components for replacing neck and wrist seals, permanent cuffs, dry gloves, and various repair/mods. I was planning to install the SiTech permanent wrist seals and neck seal, recycle some DUI zipseals, and probably install a pee valve later this season. When it comes to glues...

You can have my Force Fins, IF you can pry...

Dive Friendly Pools on The Peninsula

RE: Air fills Every time I check with Scuba Fusion about fills, their compressor is broken. Plus, they didn't have a tech to work on regs. That was last year, unknown now. Tank fills at Diver Dan's was quick and a proper fill. Get an air fill card, it's bit cheaper. Bamboo Reef should be open in...

BRIS 11' inflatable cat for diving

I'm considering an inflatable mini cat for diving in California (Norcal). I've seen vids where freedivers flop aboard like a seal bc of the open bow design. It should work fine for all diving. I have a 10' SIB with a 86lb thrust electric trolling motor for fishing but I haven't tried that in...

Advice on these tanks I picked up

Check with Acme Fire Extinguisher Co, 1305 Fruitvale Ave, Oakland, CA 94601, (510) 532-4040. They're a fire extinguisher company that's essential business and they will do a hydro test but not a VIS. Some of the local divers in your area that are certified by PST can do a VIS for you cheap. I...

    7mm wetsuit overkill for Bahamas?

I dove the Bahamas in only a diveskin. Water temp was in the 80's F. Find out the average water temp and surface temp, along if there's any wind. I caught a nasty cold on the Mexican Riviera because I thought 75F was warm enough for a 3mm - wrong. I think a 7mm is a bit much. You can always dive...

Zip seal cuff tear - repairable or replace it?

Just got a used (built 9/2004) DUI CLX 450. It has the Gen1 Zip Seals and I was inspecting the suit this morning. The neck collar seems good. The wrist cuff, one of them has a small split on the outside. I guess this is to be expected for a 15 year old suit plus storage technique. Something was...

Transderm Scop Patch - anything better?

I get seasick, so I use the Transderm Scop (scopolamine). Normally, it works. I've been on 8-10ft choppy water and I'm fine (minus the cotton mouth). This time, I wasn't. I put it behind my ear a day before the dive in Cabo San Lucas. The air temp was 75 F, water temp 73 F. Three foot waves at...

    Apollo drysuit - boot deteriorating

Does anyone else dive with an Apollo drysuit? My boots are falling apart and the kneepad is starting to go. I contacted the listed repair store in Seattle, WA, just waiting to see if they can fix it. I was using some adhesive to try to keep the bit together and just ordered some more drysuit...

Best option for underwater video hands-free

I use the Peak Design Capture mounted to my shoulder strap. Then attach the Gooseneck to hold my GoPro. I adjust it so it's a bit forward from me, no bubble interference, and I can see the view screen. Make adjustment after you trim out so it's not always facing downward.
