Best option for underwater video hands-free

From my limited experience, wide angle angle shots and moving slow. For closer shots when editing, 1-2 seconds of one image, ie, fish or invertebrate, and cut to the next scene. But really, moving slow and drifting along is the best way for me. I try not to pan and scan with the camera. If you...

    IS/WAS this a J Valve?

Just saw this on Craiglist. Vintage Voit tanks with the HP port on the valve. I never knew about this feature. Scuba tanks - sporting goods - by owner - sale Is that still considered a J Valve?

Best option for underwater video hands-free

I rinse and soak in freshwater overnight, then I put the Peak Design in a ultrasonic cleaner to get it really clean. I spray down the unit with food grade silicone so it's safe for the water. It's been holding up well since I bought it years ago. I think I can take the whole unit apart to just...

Best option for underwater video hands-free

I've done it two different ways. I'm currently using the GoPro instrument clip mount with a tripod base to clip the GoPro Gooseneck. You have to tighten the screw on the PeakDesign capture clip very tight or the base will swivel a little when you hit water. Use a little Loctite (blue - medium...

    IS/WAS this a J Valve?

I changed the title to "IS/WAS this a J Valve?"

    IS/WAS this a J Valve?

Interesting. I thought it was a J Valve with the reserve mechanism removed but I've never seen one. I also have a Norris (HJ) 72 tank with a complete J Valve (same as James79) that came as a package with the PST 72. The gentleman I got it from was in his 80's and said he used to use it for...

    IS/WAS this a J Valve?

This Sherwood Valve is on my PST 72. Is it missing the reserve lever? The Left port looks like hex fitting and not threaded but there's some corrosion gunk in it so it's hard to tell. The tank was full when I bought it.

Hollis Yoke to DIN - will it need to be serviced after conversion

I wasn't sure that adapter would work. 300 BAR is 7 threads vs 5 threads on a 232 BAR, is that right? I know that XS Scuba makes an "AIR ONLY" valve. I've seen some 7/8-14 300 BAR valves on Northeast Scuba. So, I'll go ahead and order a DIN kit for the Hollis and probably the Scubapro, too. The...

Hollis Yoke to DIN - will it need to be serviced after conversion

    An insert like this: https://www.amazon.com/Gurlleu-4500psi-Pressure-Insert-Converter/dp/B07YWM8W4Y/ref=sr_1_86?dchild=1&keywords=din+to+yoke&qid=1599688751&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-86

Hollis Yoke to DIN - will it need to be serviced after conversion

The Hollis regs are already at the shop getting serviced. If I change the Hollis DC3 to a DIN using the conversion kit, does it need to be re-serviced? I'm converting to DIN because I just got a stupendous deal ($50) on a PST HP 100CF/13L 3500 tank with a Thermo DIN valve, still in hydro! My...

Go rent a trilam suit from your LDS and use their pool (if they have one) and test it out.

    Help with dry-suit purchase

Neoprene drysuits squeeze but they also stretch. Trilams squeeze and pinches! :) Remember you're probably wearing a fleece bunny suit under that drysuit so it shouldn't be a bad squeeze. You'll learn how much air to maintain in your suit. If you're diving with just a lycra diveskin or going...

It finally happened: I peed in the dry suit

I need to get P-valve installed. My DUI has a relief zipper but I need help unzipping it! I tried the adult diaper which was uncomfortable bc it was so damn bulky. I also tried the incontinence pad, which works pretty well but kinda gross. I would only use it near the end of a dive. I have to...

    Help with dry-suit purchase

I dive in Northern California, mostly Monterey Bay. I like cold water. My first drysuit was the Apollo Bio crushed neoprene. Super comfortable, Stretchy, Warm, Boots with Ankle valves to purge the floaty feet, approx. $1550 (8 sizes in Men's). I got a Whites/Aqualung Fusion Bullet, bought from...

Updated SCUBA tank specifications list -- in PDF and spreadsheet

Before Faber changed their tank spec website, it was easier to search. I have four steel Faber 76 (REE 63). Confirmation from Bud Allen from Blue Steel. The specifications from the Faber website were: Data from Faber Air capacity (ci): 730 cu.in. Diameter: 6.76 inches Service pressure: 2400 psi...

Floaty feet. Dry suit boot inversion.

During my Drysuit course, I tried to invert and fill my feet with air but the valves would auto purge and my feet would come back down. :) It's a one way valve and air would vent occasionally but I never got wet feet. Never a reverse squeeze either. You could contact Apollo or their dealers to...
