    CRVO question

If you had a month pass before your occlusion, that does not seem causative. Were you able to determine why you did suffer a CRVO? Tersen's Syndrome is mostly associated with intra-cranial pressure. You also show over 500 dives logged.

Sew a couple of loops of soft 1" webbing around the spring. Stitch it down close to the spring so it stays in place.

If you've had vitrectomy, how long before diving again?

I was an ophthalmic photographer performing diagnostic imaging for retinal specialists. Are you sure you are having the cataract surgery, then the macular hole repair? Typically a vitrectomy and pneumatic treatment precede the cataract surgery. That is because the surgical treatment...

Safe to dive? Ear surgery 40 years ago...

About Doc's Pro Plugs. My experience is that the Pro Plug can keep an ear dry, but only to about 20 ft./6 meters. If your depth goes lower than that, a drop of water can overcome the surface tension across the vent hole. That said, if you were wearing the Doc's Pro Plug inside a Pro Ear Mask...

Get the ear checked. If approved for diving, use Doc's Pro Plugs or get ProEar Mask to keep the ear dry.

Best short/light travel fin. Apeks RK3, Scubapro Jetfin or Hollis F2?

EVA Airlines going to the Philippines weighed my carry on. 2 lbs. ove rthey made me pull stuff out. If I am diving I never expect to go with just carry on.

Best short/light travel fin. Apeks RK3, Scubapro Jetfin or Hollis F2?

happy diver, I have a pair of those Zeagle Teluoz fins. They are light, but I wouldn't consider them very stiff. You can generate some thrust, but you have to be really flapping your legs. I like them for snorkeling. You can use them with any sort of foot wear, even barefoot. I found them...

Wet lens on a mirror less... Wide angle

You might be best off looking at a dome port for your housing. A wet lens, with a 67mm dia. (or larger) thread can be tricky to attach underwater, can trap bubbles and can cause vignetting when your lens is at 12mm.

    Yet another ear thread.

I use saline nasal irrigation every morning starting a few days before leaving on a dive trip and through the dive trip. I learned another technique from a dive master in Cozumel. He would snort a handful of sea water once we were at the dive site. As to having to boil the water to sterilize...

    bailout bottle and airport security?

Does anyone have the TSA webpage with their gas cylinder regulations that can printed out? I have a copy, but it is worn. I can't find that page on TSA's website any longer. Hoping those poor schlubs don't walk off the job in disgust over the shutdown before next Thursday. Back before 9/11...

Current Trip Report: Caribbean Explorer II (Saba/St.Kitts/St.Maarten)

Thanks for your reply about the dock at Phillipsburg. Is there an office where I could drop off my gear earlier on the day we board? I am staying up near the airport. Want to see the planes landing at Maho Beach. I would either meet with other members of my dive group at the airport Saturday...

Positioning the Spotting Light on Nauticam EM-1 Housing

You may want to consider using different intensities on your strobes. Have one brighter and the other more for background lighting. I have also seen the use of a white card in the 5-6-7 o'clock range for fill light.

Right Ear Has Bled on Two Consecutive Dive Outings

My quip about seeking a referral was not a contradiction of the PA's dx. It was directed at the fact that Buoy_A observed symptoms for a couple of weeks.

Right Ear Has Bled on Two Consecutive Dive Outings

You know, sitting around after having some obvious out of the ordinary bleeding issue with one of your sensory organs is not a good idea. I suggest seeing a specialist immediately which likely entails a referral. Be sure to explain to the appointment desk people that you have had a bleed form...

Percentage of divers who go beyond openwater?

I am a mere pup, just 17 years using my super power of being able to breath underwater. My Chicago dive buddies all have 25+ years, except Bob. Bob has just 8 years. OW, AOW, Nitrox, Solo soon
