A question for 18watt HID users

without the outer rubberband, so you can see the lens.

A question for 18watt HID users

I made some protectors out of 3/8"lexan, with a thin dado groove (not quite 1/8" deep)on the backside that fits into the existing light hood, a piece of intertube finishes it off. It is bombproof, and extends the front of the light by about 1/4". I'm trying to see if anyone else has done this

A question for 18watt HID users

No, a clear lens, makes no difference in the light pattern, and allows for water circulation around the bulb.

A question for 18watt HID users

Would you use a protector lens, if it was available, on the front of your Halcyon 10watt(old style) or 18watt HID to protect the test tube and bulb from damage??

A few words about the real DIR guys...

The DIR divers I know and dive with are excellent; but if your impression of GUE and DIR diving is based on what you read on quest then yes, they( GUE & DIR zealots) sound pretty nasty. quest seems to be a no holds barred, rip you a new a$$hole if you don't agree with me kind of site. Don't let...

    Vytec transmitters

It was a pipe dream... I don't think anyone actually did it that way. It was discussed, but the fitting on the end of a small HP hose(for stage regs) has the fitting for an SPG w/ spool, the Vytec transmitter has the same thread as the hose(regulator HP), in other words, incompatible. I guess...

    Halcyon 18W light head

It's an awesome light, but it does not like being wacked on the rocks. If you think your diving will entail hitting the light on rocks as you are being moved about by surge I would get something else. The test tube cost approx.$20, the replacement HID bulb is close to $200; one bad hit on the...

ATX200 second stage with TX100 first stage

The ATX 200 works great. I didn't try the 100. The diff between the ATX & TX is 2nd stage size, the ATX is smaller. The first stages are really similar to each other. I don't think the 100 is available in the US this year because it is so close in design to the 200. If you find a good deal on a...

ATX200 second stage with TX100 first stage

I was just kidding you about the record dive. I can't even guess why he used that rig. I have ATX 200's and like them.

    Bungee Rigging my Vytec

mavericks idea is interesting. I'm going to look at my straps and see if I have the balls to cut them off. Convenience aside, I wonder sometimes though, if this OEM wriststrap failure story is a SCUBA "urban legend". How many of you have actual stories about this. My guess is that a lot more...

    Bungee Rigging my Vytec

The one thing that scares me is... can the bungie cord, when pulled at an angle, get caught around the pin and dislodge one end of the pin? Like if the cord is slid from end to end on the pin? Having the two separate pieces of bungie is good; that's what I did with my compass. You will like...

    Light or Tanks?

20 dives a week, huh? If you are doing your 20 dives a week in Florida, then you really don't need a light, do you? I live close enough to the water to be diving every day, and I'd still choose a light over extra tanks(assuming you already have two or three tanks). You wouldn't be starting many...

ATX200 second stage with TX100 first stage

I thought that Apeks was selling components separately this year, their catalog makes it look that way. What is your reason for putting together a set like that? Gonna use it on that 1100 ft. record attempt??:D :D

    Light Canon

Truely a bummer!! Use it as a learning experience, if you can. Never, never leave a shop without checking out what you just bought to make sure it works! If you return something the day you bought it because it was defective upon purchase, get your money back!! That's BS about them returning...

The Assimiliation Continues - Part 6 (Turtles and Helios in the house...)

In photographic situations, the E/O plug is the weak link. It can be handy to have, if you need it, but can become problematic with use and age. As the plug contacts wear, the fit can become less than perfect, and with the HID you could see a striking problem; with any fluctuation of current...

    Light or Tanks?

Really, get the light. You live where a drysuit would be really nice, I'm guessing. So, when you get one( a drysuit), your al 80 doubles won't be ideal, you might be wishing you got steel tanks then. If you have no tank at all, then I would get some singles to start. In northern waters, if the...

    Drysuit Problem, need help

Dude, check your seal before diving, if it is like I described , you might be dealing with the same thing as me. How many times has this happened to you? The longer the dive, the more pronounced the line, because it had no circulation for a longer time.
