Thanks everyone and I decided to finalize my purchase after reading your responses. I ponied up and got a Zeagle Brigade BC w/lumbar pad and rear trim pockets, Aeris Atmos Pro Reg, Aeris AI Computer w/quick disconnect, Bare Trek Boots, and a drysuit hose for a very very good deal. Thank you...
..at least from a regulator perspective?
I keep reading about regs suitable for warm water/cold water etc and I want to know if Puget Sound is cold enough to require a "Cold Water Reg"
Below what temperatures would make a dive site "cold water"?
The reason I ask is I'm considering...
I was there in May and dove with Manta Diving as well. Nice shop, however the boats are small, panga's I think. I had Nacho as my guide, did 2 dives for the day, it was a nice change of pace for cold water diving up here in Seattle.
Here's my 2psi, I'm a fairly novice diver so take my opinion for what its worth.
The ballroom isn't going anywhere. It will still be there years from now after you've gained more experience/training.
I applaud your decision to stick to non-overhead environments. Looking at pictures online I...
I like the first one much better. My only suggestion would be to put the city and state on the bottom half of the black ring to kind of mirror the top half. Other than that, I like it, much better than I could ever do on photoshop.
I can't believe I didn't think of this yesterday. Would it be possibly to use my yoke reg with an HP tank at 3400 psi with the yoke insert screwed into the valve like the pic above? That would solve my problem entirely...that is unless the yoke insert was not designed for that kind of pressure...
So it replaces a part of the reg entirely? Interesting, I wonder why they dont just make a converter that you add on to your reg to make it a DIN valve instead of replacing a part entirely. That way, if I went traveling, I would simply have to take off this hypothetical "Yoke to DIN Converter"...
I guess I was incorrect in saying that it's around $50 for a DIN conversion, what I meant to say was it's around $50 for a DIN converter that apparently I screw to my yoke Mk17 regulator that converts it to a DIN. Either way it looks like my only extra expense besides the tank and reg would be...
Your right, I checked again, the tank I was looking at is an XS Worthington 119 that comes with a Yoke valve with a DIN pull out plug.
As far as regulators are concerned, I was looking at the Mk17 which is a Yoke setup, however, I can get a DIN conversion for around $50. What is the draw back...
I'm still pretty new to diving and am looking at purchasing an HP 119 steel tank soon.
I'm assuming that tank comes with a DIN valve for the higher pressure. If I do get that tank, I'm assuming I need to purchase a DIN compatible regulator.
What happens though if say down the road, I take...
I'm hoping people aren't making the same mistake I made when I first tried sharing air with an integrated octo (Air2) during my open water cert dives. I couldnt figure out for the life of me how I was supposed to get my buddy to breath off the Air2 since the hose was so short, it seemed like a...
Would a 130 be too big for someone who is short? I'm only 5'6 and I find that an aluminum 80 is too tall for me so I am considering purchasing a HP119 and now because of this thread, possibly an HP130. Anybody think a 130 would be to big for someone of my stature?
