Good question! I got the impression that the tables were derived empirically by the Navy and PADI sort of took them over. It would be interesting to know what the various dive computers use - table lookup or some sort of formula? Terry

Doc, I was reading the thread on buying the best non-conservative dive computer and wondered if you'd like to comment on the idea. Being able to tune a dive computer sounds like a great idea to me, but how about trying to squeeze out the last few minutes of bottom time before DCS sets in...
