    laser eye surgery?

I had Lasik in 2001 - I previously had extreme myopia that precluded the use of any contacts except hard, gas permeable lenses, which I wore for years until my eyes started rejecting them. They eventually (after 20-odd years) became an irritant that would cause my eyes to film over within...

    Question to scubapro vendors

It is also my understanding that MAP (which stands for Minumum Advertised Price) is legal, and used successfully in many industries - dictating the actual selling price to a dealer who is negotiating a face-to-face transaction with a live customer who walked into his store is NOT legal. I'm...

    coz or bonaire

I had a direct flight from Atlanta, so getting to Bonaire was relatively easy for my son and I when we went in June - here's a way to save money on food (thanks to an excellent tip from another SB user): There is a great bakery at Cultimara (the local grocery store) - the breads and pastries...

    SSI Cert card question

Glad you asked the question - I've looked at mine and wondered the same thing. I always just write in the entire gosh-awful-long string and try to remember to ask someone later the same question... I'm hoping someone in the know will answer this for us both!

    Flounder and Mirrors

I was curious about how you steadied the camera? Did you use a tripod of some sort or just lie still on the sand and hold it. Rock solid video footage underwater is always a challenge, but makes such a huge difference and is one of the many things that sets this video apart...

Great experience with Ikelite customer service. I posted this in the wrong place, but here's a link to the post with the details. THANK YOU, Ikelite! You guys make great products and your customer service is phenomenal...

    Flounder and Mirrors

Wow! Totally awesome video! White balance, color sat, focus, depth of field, narration, and a perfect selection of background music! This is some terrific stuff - thanks for sharing - makes me want to go back to Bonaire tomorrow. Love your video, and your narrator is terrific, too...

Praise for Ikelite - great customer service!

I meant to put this thread in the photography forum - not video - my bad. Please move...

Praise for Ikelite - great customer service!

I wanted to share a wonderful experience I had with Ikelite - I bought a combo kit from my LDS early this past summer in preparation for my first trip to Bonaire. I was an ultra compact housing and a Nikon L22 sold together. Great price - a nice easy-to-use set-up, and a really decent...

    Roatan Dive Trip Report

AKR has a great customer-focus, IMO. Loved diving with them and would go back in a heartbeat. Nice to know that you had a great week staying out of the blizzard and diving the warm clear waters of Roatan!

Aeris XR1 NX 3 gauge console

Is this the newer version that supports Nitrox? Does it have quick disconnect? Any photos?

    Doesn't it stink...

It makes me appreciate even more the experience I had at Anthony's Key in Roatan last year: storm rolled in - wind and waves were too much for the side of the island we were on. They chartered a bus and then sent the boats (with all our gear on them) to the other side of the island where it was...

    Interfering Diver

Some people either fail to recognize boundaries or simply have no respect for them. I'm sure she just thought she was being helpful, but I feel it would have been appropriate to take her aside later (out of earshot of any others) and thank her for her helpful intentions, but gently remind her...

And +1 vote for Conch Republic. I have gone out with them numerous times and been really pleased every time.

    the spiegel grove

+1 on the hP100's. I did 2 back-to-back dives on the SG last summer and the 100's were definitely the ticket. If you are only getting 25 minutes on 80's at shallow depth, then imagine getting into a current at that depth - you are gonna need the extra gas. Great dive - we were swarmed by a...

Could be trouble for leisurepro and others

Once the gear gets put in a container and shipped offshore - there is no control over where it goes or how it makes its way back here. The only choice they have would be to refuse to ship anything overseas. As if... I think some peope on here may not beleive in Santa Claus or the Easter...

Could be trouble for leisurepro and others

First off - let me say that I don't work in the industry, never have. I don't own or work for a dive shop. I consider myself a savvy consumer and I don't like paying any more than I have to for anything. I may be niaive; but it seems to me that the two manufacturers in question have...

    Update(s) on 2 dive trips!!!!

Damn! I'm a single diver and REALLY want to book the Juliet - but there is only one week next year that I ABSOLUTELY cannot go - you guessed it... The 9th-15th of April. Arrrgh! :sad2:

Interesting idea... Can't wait to see if anyone who has tried this will jump in.

    Console vs Wrist?

I understand the logic - and I think you will see that there is no one "right" answer. If I had known when I bought my console what all the arguments were - I probably wouldn't have bought it - the arguments for a wrist mounted system seem pretty compelling. But it has worked flawlessly for me...
