Trip Report BVI Aggressor Review: AMAZING VACATION, GREAT LIVEABOARD, GREAT CREW.

Most of this sounds pretty standard Caribbean Aggressor, including “up to 27 dives” per the website. I would guess that the “anchorage situation” is that they don’t have moorings at most of the places they dive, at least not ones suitable for a boat that size. So they need to moor or anchor...

    Going diving in Maui

Molokini back wall is a cool dive/drift. Inside is ok but might be on ti skip if limited time. (Coolest part about inside to me was just the idea if diving in a crater.)

    WHERE TO DIVE"

What do you want to see? Plenty of land based diving in the Phillipines. Indonesia is nice to do liveaboard but you can certainly do land based there. Ditto for Palau, Maldives. Lots of Pacific islands out there…

    Scubapro "Finseal" BCD's ..

Saw this and thought of this thread- https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/aqua-lung-wave-bc-w-scubapro-air-2.631473/ If thats the wrong size they still sell them. Simple non- weight integrated kinda similar to the old SP jackets. I think it was a popular rental. My husband likes simple...

    Liveaboard Sinks Off Tubbataha Reef

yeah, this is from marinetraffic.com which doesn't tell you much unless you subscribe. Aside from height, that boat has a lot of surface. Decks that would be more like half decks or less and open much of the way on most liveboards, look all enclosed.

    Liveaboard Sinks Off Tubbataha Reef

What kind of ship is this? MG Y DREAM KEEPER (MMSI: 548830500) is a Pleasure Craft and is sailing under the flag of Philippines. Her length overall (LOA) is 39 meters and her width is 9 meters.

Recommendations for lodging and dive shop

Too bad about the Marriott. We've only stayed there one night ever, but eaten a number of times and the restaurants used to be pretty good, if resort over-priced. CSS always had a good rep and used to be at the Marriott, until the resort shut down for years for renovations. There was a great...

Recommendations for lodging and dive shop

We also enjoyed Kura Hulanda a few times, was nice while it lasted. The place I really miss is the former Habitat at Coral Estate. Looks like the resort itself, which had been falling apart, is much improved now. But the dive ops since Habitat have been erratic about having/running a dive...

Recommendations for lodging and dive shop

Has nothing to do with needing crutches, you're insulting people who simply have different preferences than you. A resort where I can stroll to the boat or jump off the dock is way more relaxing to me than dragging my crap all over the island, and well worth it to me. If that's not what you...

Recommendations for lodging and dive shop

They specifically asked for boat diving. Some people (including me) prefer it. ~~~~~~~~~~ This is a little tricky. There used to be some real dive resorts on Curacao with boat diving, on site shore diving, and a generally similar experience, but several have disappeared over the years. There...

    Scubapro "Finseal" BCD's ..

I think my first BC was a red finseal, bought in 1989. I replaced it after a couple years because it never fit me well and had no adjustability. It sat in the closet for some years until I discovered it didn’t hold air well anymore. I’d be leery of buying a BC that old.

Are there any secrets to buying weights

Yikes. Mine weren't born in CA, don't recall where, but probably around the same time frame. I don't think the guy I got them from was so large scale. At least he appeared to be alone in the boonies and not close to anyone. Was glad I had not gone there alone...

Are there any secrets to buying weights

I got mine cheap from some guy selling them on craigslist. Appeared to be a regular side gig where he was melting and molding lead scrap in his yard. (Also appeared that he'd inhaled way too much of the fumes over the years.)

    Palau Liveaboard?

We've done Ocean Hunter (but 8 years ago) and Palau Aggressor II (way longer ago.) Both were great trips. Aggressor in general seems to have its issues, in that Aggressor Fleet has little to do with the quality of a trip with one of their franchisees and your results depend on the...

General advice to new scuba divers: do not waste your money!

I disagree with most of the original post. Scubaboard is full of statements where people think they know what is best for everyone, this is just another.

Turks and Caicos Liveaboard or resort?

If you care mostly about the diving and have no compelling reason to stay on land (like a non-diving partner who insists) it’s definitely a good place to do liveaboard. You’ll get in a lot more diving without the long day boat trips. Topside does have nice beaches and good restaurants, but I did...

Neoprene wet suit v/ 3 mil skin (lava Core)

I have assorted lavacore, sharkskin, and old darlexx or something. Its pretty neutral I would expect a 3mm neoprene to require more weight. Despite what the marketing says I think 3mm neoprene is warmer, at least until it gets beat and squished. But I like lavacore and it’s warm enough for me...

    Curacao vs Bonaire

That's an interesting theory. When we first started going to Curacao it wasn't nearly as popular with US visitors and the diving wasn't as well known. The boat diving was more obvious, the shore diving options were either less developed, or less known to visitors, or probably both...
