    How upset would you be?

Now you guys are making me a bit nervous. I was supposed to start my OW cert classes today. Only problem was, when I showed up at the shop (after a 30 minute drive) the instructor/owner looked at me and said "Did you watch the video?" To which I replied "Nope, you didn't give me one." Funny...

    current conditions at the quarry?

The funny part is thats the small one.:14: The army does have some fun toys. I carried that bad boy all through Iraq. Did me well. Anyhow, I figured it would be a little cloudy, just hopin for decent vis. I got spoiled with the discover scuba that I did. Never dove a quarry before. I'll post...

    current conditions at the quarry?

Hello all After trying for months to get someone to come get certified with me I've decided to just bite the bullet and take private classes so I can get wet. I'll be doing my final dives this next weekend at cerulean and was wondering if anyone had been there lately and could give me some...

How Were You Introduced To Diving?

Absolutely loved aquariums as a kid and still do. Loved the ocean, snorkeled and surfed all my life, went to a discover scuba thing on leave after Iraq and got hooked, picked up an issue of sport diver and have been glued to the world of diving ever since.

    visability

look back 100 years at the industrial age. Look at all the textile factories and harbors in the jersey, new york and other new england areas. Then think about what was goin on in the bahamas. Lots of nasty in jersey, not so much in the bahamas. Its gotten a little better, but there's still way...

Submarine replica found in NY harbor (video)

interesting idea... seen things like this on the history channel. But it would have been much wiser to go about it through the right channels. Just randomly plopping your unregistered 17th century submarine replica into the harbor during these times isn't quite the brightest thing you can do...

How do you pay for SCUBA?

I'm an infantryman in the us army, I'm off my *** by 0430 in the morning. I've got an associates degree and am trying to squeeze in as much education as I can while still serving. I plan on getting a good job once I'm out of the military and have a plenty good work ethic. But as everyone who's...

Pool size for OWD training - what's adequate?

600 dollars to get certified to dive? Sweet jesus, I thought I was paying a lot. When we built our pool ( don't remember the exact dimensions off the top of my head, but somewhere around 35 feet long kidney shaped). We did all the digging ourselves and most of the prep work. Total price was just...

    Any skydivers here?

I get paid to jump out of planes. Only difference is, the landings are a bit more rough, I'm wearing 100lbs of gear, and its only takes about 3-5 seconds for the chute to open. Military jumps are way different than the civilian world. I've done two tandem jumps, and they were pretty sweet. But...

    Survivorman Shark Week Special Review

The Survivorman show was not very interesting. Maybe if it was on by itself instead of in the middle of shark week. But it was nothing new, pretty dry, and almost boring. He tried too hard to make everything sound so intense when it really wasn't. Personally I really enjoyed the "dirty jobs"...

How do you pay for SCUBA?

Everyone keeps talking about thier "relationship with a dive shop". How exactly does one manage to get a relationship that warrants free air and such? Are you doing DM work for them of somethin?

    DAN Insurance...

I just joined dan and got the insurance. It was only like 50 bucks for a year. More than worth it. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

    Discovery sharkweek crazyness, riding sharks?

They show the attacks, but also explain why they happened in an attempt to... I dunno... "justify" why it happened. On each episode they had a marine biologist or some "shark expert" explaining the situation and what went wrong. Usually rulling out most shark "attacks" as just "curious nibbles"...

    Ear infection !!!

I'm guessing that the homemade mixture that everyone is describing is the "ear beer" I've heard about? Sounds about the same. Anyone have an actual price on the drops that they sell? I will definately be avoiding infections from the get go if possible.

    Discovery sharkweek crazyness, riding sharks?

The best part was the show after it. They made such a huge deal about free swimming with large sharks and especially great whites, then the next hour was all of a dude in a small inflatable boat, free diving by his damn self, no cage anywhere, with tiger sharks and riding them all over the...

How do you pay for SCUBA?

I've actually considered donating blood and plasma to fund my diving. Since I've got all my anthrax shots it actually pays pretty good. Might have to follow up on that. Where there's a will there's a way. I actually sold one of my hand guns to pay for my OW cert!
