    Mermet Oct. 6-7

I did a night dive there last weekend. Its a blast. The fish are WAY more active and use your dive light to hunt. I'm responsible for two small fish gettin gobbled up by some very large bass! The albino catfish are really cool too. If you get a chance, definitely do it!

Best place for an ex-military, law enforcement, scubadiving nut to live?

I'm not really looking at any particular department right now. Just prefer it to be close to coast preferably. Doesn't necessarily have to be in Florida. I've just got family that still lives there. I grew up in fl and like it. California is an option too I guess. Never really thought of myself...

    Why shoot stills?

I love photography, but my skills are still rather lacking. I also love watching/making movies. With the high number of frames in a video, and the ability to take one out as a single still (with some programs), is it really worth it for me to invest in a still UW camera? Or should I just throw...

Best place for an ex-military, law enforcement, scubadiving nut to live?

My girl's family has 2 condo's and a house in Manasota Key. I spent all of last December there and at Siesta Key. More than likely I'll be back again this year. I'll be sure to PM you when I come down!

Best place for an ex-military, law enforcement, scubadiving nut to live?

Thanks for the info everyone. I checked out the Wackenhut site you mentioned. Doesn't look like they want to pay people too well. Maybe more for somethin I didn't notice. As for your previous questions, I'm single and have no kids and yes, renting and a condo is just fine. I don't need anything...

Best place for an ex-military, law enforcement, scubadiving nut to live?

Hello I'm currently an Infantryman with the 101st airborne. I'm due to get out in a few months and am trying to decide what to do with myself. I grew up in FL and still have family in the Melbourne area. I'm looking to get into Law Enforcement and most definitely need to be close to the beach...

    NAUI or PADI Divemaster?

I did not mean to suggest that I personally was a DM as I most definitely am not. I sincerely apologize for the unintended deception. I was merely trying to regurgitate the same thing I have read in countless similar threads I've read while trolling on here and other boards for the past few...

    NAUI or PADI Divemaster?

PADI is more common throughout the world and will therefore make finding work a bit easier (or so I've gathered by the 732 similarly based threads on here) They also have a pro section that helps you find work if you aren't already affiliated with a LDS. So, See if he'll do both, if not. Go...

Earn up to $50/hr finding golf balls in water hazards on local golf courses.

well the work sounds less than glorious yes, but the money is alluring. I have yet to hear from anyone where I send the balls and get my money. How does that work? Is this a local thing or national. Whats the deal?

    Looking For Amputee Divers

I had the pleasure of diving with some last month. The Wounded Warriors foundation is based here at Ft. Campbell and is made up of wounded soldiers. Nancy McPherson (not sure on the spelling of the last name) runs it and it is excellent. She's an amazing woman. The basic premis of it is that...

Earn up to $50/hr finding golf balls in water hazards on local golf courses.

with the ability to make a couple grand a month, and the fact that most of those water hazards are only a couple feet deep, you could probably do most of your hunting without scuba gear. just some waders and gloves. I worked doing landscaping in highschool and had to clean out many little ponds...

Earn up to $50/hr finding golf balls in water hazards on local golf courses.

7800 bucks a month isn't too bad. I've done much worse things and not gotten paid nearly as much. Still curious how one goes about doin this.

    A dry mouth fix

Capri sun works just fine. You can drink them underwater. Put one in your BC before a dive and when you get about halfway through or your mouth gets really dry, pull it out, pop in the straw, and slurp away. Just be sure to bring the empty pouch back with you! I just use the surrounding water...

Earn up to $50/hr finding golf balls in water hazards on local golf courses.

i'm interested. Honestly and truly interested. I've seen this before. Actually I think they did it on "dirty jobs" on the discovery channel. I'm in the military and this would make for a fun and easy way to make a few extra bucks. Even if it were only to pay for scuba. How exactly does this...

    Badly trained?

I think the thing to remember is that this is a civilian class. You can't expect to do military style training and have the masses enjoy it. Granted I couldn't agree more with the suggestions that people made, its still not something that your typical vacation diver is going to want. I do agree...
