Western Caribbean Destinations (have you been there)?

I did the same cruise in 2004. If the ship uses the same operator in Belize as when I went, you'll be happy. This is the operator they were using when I went. http://www.belizediving.com/ The water in Belize was the clearest I have ever dove. They day we dove, the visibility was in excess of...

    Becareful on that ice NewEnglanders

Great job Scubasarus...whether you feel like a hero our not, the act in itself was heroic. I was driving thru the Bay today, here on Lake Champlain, and was surprised to see about 30-40 trucks, cars and shantys set up out on the ice. Guess our ice is a little thicker than what you guys have...

    USS Duane dive video

Nice videos, both of you. I loved diving the Duane, and have some pictures from the dive posted in my gallery. Maybe after I get digital photography down, I'll try video. My fiance will kill me :D Here's my favorite picture from the Duane, and it was taken right by where your buddy played...

Should instructors be required to be with a shop to be able to certify people?

No, an instructor shouldn't be required to be attached to a shop. They should be able to get certified as an instructor and teach as an independent, or sub-contract to a shop or number of shops. Just my 2 psi, C-Dawg

SHADOW DIVERS EXPOSED: The Real Saga of the U-869

I've read both books. Personally, I find it hard to take someone serious when they feel the need to blast others just to try and improve their image. Do I think Richie and John are GODS? Hell no, but I do respect what they've done. As for GG, I respect what he's done also, but due to his "what...

    NE Lobster Population

Personally, I have nothing against spear fishing, and see learning to judge a fish's size no different than having hunters judge antler size prior to shooting. Here in Vermont, a buck has to have a minimum of 3" antlers with at least one fork ( 3 pointer or larger). If you're not sure, don't...

Do you support your LDS (and does your LDS support you?)

This topic has been kicked around many times, and anyone who knows me on this board knows I am an LDS supporter. However, know that the reason i do support my LDS, is that they support me. I do not recommend supporting unscrupulous (sp) owners who try to rob the public. Luckily, IMO, the number...

    Any Hockey Fans Around???

I used to play left wing in our local men's league.....gave it up due to my knees. I couldn't afford to lose work over it. I've also coached at the Pee Wee level. Last time I played was last year, playing pond hockey one afternoon with some friends, but now that we are finally having winter...

    What about force fins?

I've used many types of fins, but exclusively use Force Fins now. I used to get leg cramps with Rockets and the other fins I tried and used, but have never gotten a leg cramp using FFs, even doing 5-a-days on a liveaboard. Besides the leg cramp issue, they are easier to put on and take off...

34 F water NE USA, but warm here in ScubaBoard!

Yeah, I've been diving out of that shop for about 8 years, and even work there a couple of days a month helping out. Mallets Bay is frozen over and people are skating on it. The broad lake, where the wrecks are hasn't frozen yet, but temps are in the single digits for the next few days, so it'll...

Are you diving with Victory Sports? Mallets Bay is covered now, and I've seen skaters out on th lake. The weather forecast for the end of the week is for frigid temps. When are you coming? C-Dawg

    divers in NH

Personally, having used both, I prefer Victory Sports. I started out as a customer, but now work there part time, a couple of days a month. Their website is www.victorysports.net and they also use Larry Boivin for charters. Incidentally, Larry gets his gear serviced at Victory, and refers his...
