    Am I a total imbecile?

Best of luck to you Coll! I enjoyed my Vyper a lot, and I'm sure you'll like the Gecko. BTW, if you get bored with the standard wrist straps that come with the Gecko, DSS makes a bungee mount: https://www.deepseasupply.com/index.php?product=48. The advantage is that it is much easier to get...

    Am I a total imbecile?

I have the Suunto Vyper, not the Gecko. I just checked, and the display was off. When you took the computer out of the box, was the display on? If so, it is likely meant to stay on. If not, I would imagine the computer will shut the display off after some number of hours (two hours with no...

DSS now caries a bungie mount for the DiveRite Duo/TUSA IQ-700!

I don't know...I thought Dive Rite's "Depth Compensating Wrist Strap" was worse! :D

DSS now caries a bungie mount for the DiveRite Duo/TUSA IQ-700!

I was looking around TheDecoStop the other day, and found a thread advertising the new DSS bungee mount for the DiveRite Duo/TUSA IQ-700/Cressi Archemidies/Apeks Quantum. Since this has been about my only complaint with my Duo, I immediately ordered one for myself, and one for my buddy. They...

My Current Gear Opinions, what Dry Suit when its time?

I think it is worthwhile to get pockets installed on the drysuit. I currently own a Bare Trilam HD (Size L, I'm 6'0" 210 pounds). This suit is very heavy duty, you might like it for the wreck diving.

    Digital picture frame recommendations?

Thanks all. No extra laptops laying around here, so I'll go the commercial route. Thanks for the post about Costco. I had gone there earlier, but hadn't seen any- I must have been looking in the wrong place. Thanks for the post about Phillips- I had read their reviews and Kodak.

    Digital picture frame recommendations?

Sorry, I left off some information. We're PC folks, not Mac. My wife shoots with a Nikon, and her files are JPEG, about 1.5MB/image typically.

    Digital picture frame recommendations?

Hi all, I searched around, but couldn't find any threads on this topic. I'm looking to buy a digital picture frame for my wife for Christmas. After having read several of the reviews on Amazon.com, it looks like most models have some warts, typically in the software...either downloading and...

List your best wreck and best reef/wall

Gotta agree with Seadeuce, all of the Maru's that I dove in Truk were awesome. Well worth the trip if you get the chance. For the reef, I haven't dove a lot of warm water, but I finally had a day of good visibility on Ball Buster in Monterey, and it was a heck of a dive.

Feedback on Uwatec Tec 2G, Nitek Duo or Suunto Vyper

I have both the Duo and the Vyper. I bought the Vyper first, and loved the computer. I then purchased the Duo to support a Adv Nitrox/Deco procedures course that ended up falling through. I currently dive with the Duo. It has a simpler interface, and I like the second count down timer on...

    First time with equipment problems

I think the moment of jumping in the water is underrated for danger. I always check that my tank valve is on, take three breaths from the regulator while looking at the SPG (if the valve isn't fully on, you'll pick it up easily when the SPG needle drops), and verify that the BC & drysuit are...

Need a set of drysuit fins - recommendations please

Thanks. I keep hoping that Scubapro might come out with an intermediate sized foot pocket for the Jets.

Need a set of drysuit fins - recommendations please

jdelprete, What kind of boots do you have on your drysuit? Turbosoles, rock boots, molded rubber? I think you might fit Scubapro's XXL Jet fin (the foot pocket is notoriously huge). My spring straps were one of the best investments I ever made. I have the Manta variety, and like them because...

So what do you do with your keys?

I think this was discussed 1-2 months ago. Drysuit divers tend to put them in their undergarments, wetsuit divers either take a key without any integrated electronics, or else hide it somewhere on their vehicle.

Once dry, do you ever go back to wet?

The only time I've dove wet since getting a drysuit has been in Truk & Hawaii, where I dove a 1mil wetsuit.

    Diving with just a watch

I did my first ~75 dives or so with just a watch & tables. It's a great way to really get comfortable with the tables and internalize them. My watch cost about $60 or so. The biggest drawback is that you have to be disciplined about setting or noting the time that you go down, and then also...
